He looked at no income tax style places and ruled out FL & TX because hot, and didn't bother looking at the others because they weren't sexy (WY & NH), plus had this weird delusion that someday Microsoft, Boeing or some other tech style company would want to hire him.
That and the idea of going to cons in person in Seattle. This went nowhere even faster than getting a real job, I don't even remember him mentioning it after he was done moving in. I can't even remember him going into the city outside of when Panda pushed him into it.
ETA: And maybe to flex on Kat, I can't be bothered to dig through what he claimed to do with her in 2017-8.
It really is hilarious how he picked where to move too, you are absolutely right his non-negotiable was no state income tax, NH isn't far enough away from Jaha coming to knock his ass out, Wyoming he would think gets 10 feet of snow a week year round and probably doesn't have Amazon delivery or business style internet, as you said FL and TX are too hot....that leaves Washington state.
How do you let yourself get cucked like that by letting tax rates rule your life, THEN don't pay your FEDERAL taxes correctly anyways!

Phil (who spends every $ he makes) pays more in income, business & sales tax now in WA than he would in CT, as CT lowered its income tax after he left, and Seattle has one of the highest sales tax rates in the US (10.35%). Not to mention Phil pays a 20% alcohol tax in King County too. And not to mention dumb fuck probably spent $10-15k moving a car and all his shit cross country.

I am quite certain it is FAR more than that, I wouldn't be surprised if he spent $10k just on the trips to scout out Seattle, after airfare, high end style hotels, and high end style restaurants CONSTANTLY. He spends more money on mundane shit than you could ever imagine man. I would assume his all in cost to move was closer to $50k than $10k.

Don't forget property tax! The millage (tax per $1,000 of value) rate was always high and the appreciation on the Snort Fort he is so proud of means his taxes have increased accordingly; I suspect long-time residents are even more frustrated with that than the ultra-high sales taxes. If he wanted a low-tax state without the heat New Hampshire was the safe bet, it has no sales tax and the high property taxes bite less because property is fairly inexpensive.
I can't even give him credit for buying a home in Seattle just as the tech boom in that area was taking off + causing property values to skyrocket because his terrible credit + insistence on staying in that condo to spite the trolls means he can't tap all the equity he's accruing. I've heard of assets being untappable because of the limited market (art) or tax rules (401-k), this may be the first time it's happened because the holder was just that incompetent.
Was that the photo he accidentally showed on his desktop? I thought there was some debate on whether they really went or just had their photo taken at a nearby hill that happens to offer picture perfect framing for shots of the Space Needle.
