. What I don't agree with is the boomer sperging. There's a lot to hate about boomers (the hippie to yuppie to libshit pipeline in particular) but to lay all the blame on them for the destruction of the 50's "utopia" is just wrong.
Some of it is just sour grapes.
After WWII with the industrial base of all of western europe bomb to shit, with the marshal plan and usa industrial base. We went to work rebuilding the mother fucking world.
There was soo much demand for work, that a normal person in America was paid a very fucking good wage.
If the US had stayed out of vietnam, and on the gold standard along with using high interest rates to force a credit cycle things would have been even better.
The second wind of this was the 1990s when the USSR fell and china started making things for the world market inmass.
But the middle american class is not the normal standard its very much an outlier.
I have a boomer cousin and he played things conservative to a very high degree. After his divorce he didnt buy a house he lived with his WWII vet father and mother, stuffed all his money in some retirement account to defer tax hit. and while he has a good teachers pension and SS income he never got on the property ladder and that really did hurt his prospects.
What I m trying to say is that he didnt sell out his kids in a "fuck em" type deal.
Also I got an email last week from some realtor my great aunt and uncles multir family portfolio is now for say. I remember my grandma talking about how my aunt and family went to dinner when they bought their first multi family how hard they worked, worked their normal job and then worked on weekends all they did was work and built up that portfolio of a bout 20 units its being sold and I can see how the kids and grand kids just want a check.
The whole multigenerational wealth thing is a fluke Fucking trumps grandpa made money in the yukon gold rush, got the dad started in devoplment in queens, then trump as you see.
to be honest I ve seen better work out of the middle easter slum lords i ve worked with, while the boomer and Gen x in my family all vary quit a bit. In my aunts case I can see a failure to invest correctly in the kids and grand kids. Instead one side works hard the kids kinda fuck around and then gen 3 or gen 4 nothing.
