Lots of artists put their kinks in their work. Often times without even realizing it. It's just usually not as obvious.
Lots of artists put self therapy in their works. One could argue that's the main purpose of creating art in the first place. He could stand to get real therapy, but so could everybody else who has ever made a cartoon.
