UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679 (https://archive.ph/5Ba6o)

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Oh piss off. Sikhs are normal people, as are Pakis, as are darkies. Most of them are harmless, some (few) of them are actual humans, some (many) of them are murdering/raping criminal scum who should be put out for the crows and seagulls. They're not a conspiracy, they're not bright enough for that. The only conspiracy is our retarded Government and our rapemobile Police Force letting the worst elements of them do all of it.
They can be normal people in India and Pakistan then you fucking faggot.
England for the English.
Scotland for the Scots
Wales for the Welsh

I’m afraid all British politics threads have been taken over by /pol/fugees and we don’t do things like nuance or going outside now.

Right now people are thinking deeply about how they can best call you a crypto-Jew/jeet/coon/etc.
Welshycoded post. Protip, don't talk about how threads have been taken over by whatever when you've got a fucking less than a month old sockpuppet. Also /pol/ users were never white.

Heart warming story of the week
He’s absolutely right as well. People need to respect the landscape and tourists just do not get that farms are working landscapes. The way people act around livestock, the litter, it’s really depressing. It’s all clearly signed, I hope they never get the smell out.

I figured his policy needed clarification.
Personally I go with one egg and cheese instead. It adds stability.
Have to disagree strongly here, cheese has no place on a bin lid and stability is provided by ketchup or Sauce with a capital sauce (contents unknown.) other than that, the man’s policies are sound.

That's the relevant thing and to be hammered on. The issue here is the police who acted as they did, the government who laid down the laws, the NGOs and charities that agitated for it and the media that refused to cover it until the outrage got too big.

The stabber himself is only one of a long list of people who belong on a gallows.
It’s all clearly signed, I hope they never get the smell out.
I know one person will have left their window open, got some of it in the car and had to drive home with that nightmare. I only hope it was someone without blameless children.

I like how you imply Mumsnet is worse than /pol/. How much sperging about kikes is there on Mumsnet?
The absolute funniest pipeline I've witnessed is "I'm going on the Mumsnet pushchair thread for car seat recommendations" -> "AssignedEva, do you know what 'TERF' means?"

A close second is "I'm going on Tattle to read celeb gossip about Holly Willoughby" -> "AssignedEva, what's a 'chud'?"

I think the point around 2018 where they put restriction on what you could even call troons was a wake up call for a lot of women.I copped a temp a ban for saying something pretty innocuous after not being on there for a while and completely missing the new rules, then saw the troons try to get people’s real identities to harass them, then Justine got swatted. I think at that point a lot of women went from ‘live and let live’ to that kind of ‘I shall hate you all forever now’ thing that women do. Inscribe their name on the permanent grudge tablets, and all that.
Here is more fun anyway although I do still pop back for the odd thing or two.

You can never not convince me that TERF is just a lefty socially accepted way of calling a lady a bitch. The sheer vitriol I seen hurled at those whom are perceived as TERFs wouldn't be out of place in a Nick Fuentes stream.

i think it's more like calling her a witch (in the times when witches were burned at the stake)
