This is a recipe for disaster. This is going to end up with Pat pissing off Woolie for forcing him to play FF14, and then Woolie is going to inevitably piss off a bunch of FF14 players in his audience for dumping the game before it gets good. The views will suck because 14 is on a decline and the story-streamer hype train died over a year ago, so Reggie will also be pissed.
Literally nobody will be happy about this when it's all said and done, except maybe Yoshi-P for making a few bucks off Woolie.
I say this as a fan of FF14's story up to Endwalker- As great as I think it is, it's simply not going to land for Woolie at all. He has the emotional intelligence of a rock.
I already didn't want Tifa in the game so now I'm hoping even more because I'm that petty.

Why would Woolie need to be accompanied when the game is entirely soloable and why would you need a new character when the game scales you down for corresponding content?
Woolie will literally spend half of the first stream (+2 hours) on character customization deeply pondering on what character and how to roleplay it and how he wants to "try something different this time", only to subcounciously end up making another Casca Berserk clone again.
I genuinely don't expect this to last more than 3 streams. I was going to say that i'm sure Pat deep inside knows this is awful and woolie will get filtered but

They spent like a minute on each announcement of the State of Play. No real commentary, other than "Hey, this is coming out! Cool!". Makes you wonder how they're game journalists again?
That's what i mean. Eyepatch made a 70 minute long video on how Simpsons went to shit (short answer: mean, unfunny and pop culture) but put a clickbait title of "SIMPSONS IS GOOD AGAIN!" when his argument was literally "that last horror episode was funny and in one episode homer war bullied and then... he... he cried."
It never stopped being bad but this eyepatch is such a clickbaity hyperdramatic gay that he lied about it and now he is milking his own lie.
It's insane to me how eyepatch will just make shit up over and over but his videos are long and sound gay so he gets millions of views and is seen as an expert on the topic.
They probably never read so much as a single chapter of any of the many Baki manga. They were always performative pseuds who just barely knew whatever was super popular, and had nothing but second-hand surface knowledge presumably gained through cultural osmosis or by seeing memes about it. Maybe Pat's presence will pick up the slack. Woolie doesn't know that MMOs want you to rotate your skills? Whatever, Pat does so he can carry his ass and/or beat into him to drop his shield rotate his skills.. And Pat can also probably shortcut Woolie's understanding of game mechanics, so his audience doesn't have to suffer through him staring blankly at menu screens for entire streams while making thoughtful noises, or hem and haw over completely inconsequential decisions (you just know Woolie on his own would dedicate 5-15 minutes to the decision of which quest reward to take because they boost different attributes). Pat probably also knows which quests to do for maximum thrust towards actually interesting content, where Woolie would spend hours upon hours faffing about doing menial bullshit. Pat probably can also summarize the story for Woolie to curtail long stretches of theorizing about things that really leave no room for it.

Two Best Friends Play was, first and foremost, an irreverent comedy series. It boggles the mind that we are so many years past Pat and Woolie consciously distancing themselves from anything people found entertaining or charming about their content (having replaced those qualities with curmudgeonly, out-of-touch sanctimony and weekly grandstanding to denounce topics they neither have anything to do with, nor would even know anything about - all for the sake of pandering to the vocal minority of Bluesky trannies that will rush to Reddit to complain if either one of these jobless, forty year-old men fail to pay lip service to the prescribed thing in the prescribed way), while somehow still feeling entitled to the same audience and level of celebrity they were afforded by Matt putting on his publicist beanie to tard-wrangle them into appearing at con panels to crack jokes and make references to bad video games they had played for the channel.
How many years are we into these two refusing to even leave the house for their "job"? How many years are we into there being no point in waiting to hearing the reviews or opinions of these media personalities; because they're dictated by whichever direction the winds on Bluesky and Resetera seemed to be blowing in the day(s) leading up to a particular podcasting date? What service do these two provide but to be compared unfavorably to themselves?

Considering Woolie will almost certainly be playing PGL/MNK he'll be pressing 1-2-3 for the first 15 levels and won't have a 1-2-3 combo for AOE until level 45 and the game doesn't really penalize you for not using the extra 1-2-3 MNK (at level 50) gets until max level/raids.
FFXIV is a very simple game with almost 0 room for theory crafting before level max level and it'll be nearly a hundred hours before he has to even conceive of a decision.
If he goes MRD/WAR or CNJ/WHM - it'll be even more brainless and easy for him.
