UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Última edición por un moderador:
As the crowd dispersed a black guy screams 'I'm black, everyone get behind me, I'm black' lol.

It's over for tonight, we'll see what if anything happens after Kier calls them far right racists I guess.

The police don’t get to say the injuries were not survivable. The coroner gets to say that. if they weren’t, then really, it makes no difference, they STILL should have gotten him immediate medical aid and acted like he had potential internal bleeding he is noticeably gurgling on the video ffs. Their actions may have hastened his death, and their inaction was utterly inhuman. Poor lad. I hope his family sue, the police are completely at fault here.
Not that the police were totally blameless but the Indian scumbags took extra long to call the police because they needed to hide the kids phone and his knife, the whole family should be deported, have their property seized by the state, and the killer needs publicly executed.

How magnanimous of you, I'd suggest eliminating the entire bloodline that bred the killer and helped him.

Mother and brother are.

I think they might get moved to some "asylum" set up by adminstration. To not become the center of attention. Probably they are still in their home currently.
I looked it up. Brother and father charged with multiple weapons offences today but they were immediately released without any bail conditions until their court date on July 9th.

It’s around 11 in bongistan, so I’d assume we’ll be getting some more kino in around 9-10 hours from now.

Fireworks set off near a mosque in Southampton.
Quite a few accounts saying this is at the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light headquarters in Crewe - no idea personally, just reporting it.

The AROPL were posted on SM by concerned neighbors doing what look like paramilitary drills. They were later raided by police and with 9 people arrested for slavery and sex offenses - article.

Liverpool allegedly planning a protest. If this happens this will not be just about Henry.

Keep an eye out for any protests planned in Cardiff, a young boy (17?) was stabbed on the bank holiday and the police withheld that he had to have a leg amputated.

The Ahmadi movement originated in British India. Brief Wikipedia synopsis below

Ahmadiyya (/ˌɑː(x)məˈdiː(j)ə/[1]), officially the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at (Arabic: الجماعة الإسلامية الأحمدية, romanized: al-Jamāʿah al-Islāmīyyah al-Aḥmadīyyah; Urdu: جماعتِ احمدیہ مسلمہ, romanized: Jamā‘at-i-Aḥmadiyah Muslimah) is an Islamic messianic[2] movement originating in British India in the late 19th century.[3] It was founded by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835–1908), who said he had been divinely appointed as both the promised Messiah and Mahdi expected by Muslims to appear towards the end times and bring about, by peaceful means, the final triumph of Islam;[4][5][6][7] as well as to embody, in this capacity, the expected eschatological figure of other major religious traditions.[8] Adherents of the Ahmadiyya—a term adopted expressly in reference to Muhammad's alternative name Ahmad[9]—are known as Ahmadi Muslims or simply Ahmadis.
