One of the biggest issues with troons is that it's so hard to get them to discuss contradictions like this in the first place. If you ask them a genuine question that isn't a pre-digested talking point, they probably won't respond, and if they do, they'll either deflect, call you a bigot, or go into some tangential-at-best rant about how awful their childhood was or something. It's pretty indicative of how much self-reflection and dialogue goes on within the community - that is, zero.

The answer is usually "Because they want their bodies to match their gender identity" but that doesn't explain how sex and gender are different though.
