The Shin Megami Tensei/Persona Thread

Like i said, been planning to since its release. You gonna fault me for asking the Top Minds of KF on their opinion? From what little i've seen of the game i'll probably end up liking it, like most Fatlus games i've played.
If you want a Legit Certified Kiwi Opinion™️, it's fine. Personally I think it's paced really well up until the last 15% of the game where it (both the story and the gameplay) all falls apart like a house of bricks. The story goes off the rails and you surprisingly run out of content which is crazy for a fatlus game with Persona's gameplay loop. I liked the job system though I really wished there was a Freelancer job like FF5 where you could really get crazy with the build variety. You could also cheese/1 day dungeons with certain jobs (looking at YOU merchant and mage) which is a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you feel about the state of balance in single-player games.

People were really hapring on the woke shit for the first few weeks but I'd just ignore it, it's just retards on the Internet chimping out over OOC screenshots and once they played it (or not these are culture warriors we're talking about here), the whole thing went away.

You could also just check the thread around the time of release to see common sentiment, this thread has been long enough that any recent fatlus release will probably have somebody in here talking about it, or you could just play the damn thing for yourself. I'm pretty sure there's a crack floating around.

Based on what happened with the Persona 3 remake I can pretty much guarantee P4 Reborn won't contain any of the content from Golden and will probably also have censorship and additional bad localization all for the princely sum of $70.

Sloppers won't care though they'll buy it anyways.

Also @30+GameOvers Sega had their earnings call a couple months back and Metaphor is confirmed as a sales flop so you'll probably get your wish and not see the IP for a long time.

Why dont you play it and form your own opinion?
Not really a good option with RPGs, it's not a show you can watch for an hour an quit, but it's at least couple of hours until an RPG shows everything it has and by then sunk cost is in full effect. Seems though Atlus didn't even bother doing a waifu edition for it, which is surprising.

Not my fault his not as autistic as me. He could just play the first few hours just to get a gist of what he is getting himself into. Hell, there is a demo that exist just for that.

If true this is one of the laziest thing's I've ever seen.

P6's protag is literally Yu from P4's 1-1 character model with the only difference being blond hair instead of black.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised the warning signs were there with P5 and Metaphor that Atlus was getting increasingly creatively bankrupt.

Oh God. This is disappointing already, it looks worse than Persona 5. I don't know what I was expecting, is this how modern anime design has changed again?

And chinese no less.
Chinks have been collaborating more and more with Japs on animations and games. It's an undeniable reality. I'd trust it more since it was a Chink.

It could be that the japs just hate Christians because of history and it's why this is the case
It's because Japanese game devs are usually that society's version of leftists, which is a helpful explainer for many things once you think about it (see also: Persona 5's purely performative rebellion themes). Same sort of thing happens in Korean and Western works for the exact same reasons; it's not unique to the Japanese.

I am not sure I would say I would trust it "more," I would instead say that the leaker being Chinese is not an automatic mark against it for those reasons.

It's a good thing that you're not me. Remember, I'm more autistic and more of a clownish poster than you.

It looks disappointing enough to be true for me until proven otherwise.

I am insulted at the insinuation that I am not a clown. Honk honk.

I don't know. I say it, like everything else, depends on when the female designs get released and how much porn gets made within 48 hours. As you know, that's the barometer. Sadly.

They just look unappealing to me. Nothing catches my eye compared to even P5 designs. The one with darker hair looks like that RWBY character which I can care less for. The blonde, they just look like boring Dykes. Or the blonde is some fag. I was hoping for a Persona game that centers around Adults, since 2's Eternal Punishment, but if we focus on college age retards I don't know about it. The monkey paw always curls.

I was hoping for 6 to really break through the neverending high school tropes since it's been done to Hell and back, starting at SMT IF. But if they make it boring as fuck, I don't know. Maybe 5 should be a stopping point, but now that Metaphor, a more "mature" project bombed, they're probably just gonna stick to this tired concept.

All I really want from the series is a proper IV port. It's my favorite. The other more obscured games would be nice too, like the original Xbox game, digital devil saga games, the Japan exclusive games but I know we're never getting that.

You know as well as I do that is what makes the money. I agree with you about Eternal Punishment being good, but I just do not think Japanese college has the same allure to that society so I think that's also basically out.

That college idea is just what people have been speculating for years.

I'd like a proper cast of adults, maybe misfits or outcasts but not in too much of a quirky way. In a way where their job or lifestyle suits the role they play in the combat system and narrative. Give deeper emotional themes since most persona tourists and teens have grown up by now. But that probably won't happen. Audiences are always infantalized, and they buy it up.

Also too hopeful since bad writing has even struck Japan. It rules as a majority in the world. Not a fun minority anymore.

It just doesn't make sense. How many popular Japanese franchises of that specific kind of setting can you think of?

And your second ask is right out.

Zilch. As for the second ask, we have Earthbound. And most old Japanese RPGs consisted of relatively normal protagonists. I guess the main characters in persona since 3 have also been about as much of a character as a brick. Blank slates are boring after a while. I want something better. I'd like something like Earthbound did, and what SMT/Persona does, just with adult protagonists in a larger capacity than what the quirky indie RPG fags mustered.

My asks are just fantasy. I know. We don't live in a world to deliver that stuff anymore.
