I don't know. Some of the polls suggested a better matchup with Cornyn and Talarico, but a lot of those same polls had Talarico leading both by 1-2 points. One prediction site (Race to the WH) had Talarico winning against Paxton by around two points but losing to Cornyn by around two points, and a swing of 3-4 points doesn't sound remotely realistic. Even if it actually made a difference between winning and losing that sounds like huffing copium.

The other thing I realized is that the primary runoffs were structured that if you voted in the first run you can't switch parties for the runoff, and since there were so many Democrats in the primary it would've excluded them from going to the runoff to screw things up (there was a runoff for them too but I think it was something like lieutenant governor). So the votes for Paxton would suggest one of two things:
1. The runoffs were compromised and Democrats helped "fortify" Paxton's win
OR
2. The runoffs helped blow a big hole in the "Republicans are abandoning MAGA" doomerism I've heard about recently.

I don't think it's #1 because I feel that there would be more obvious clues that someone was being astroturfed.

Also despite Paxton being damaged goods, Cornyn would've set up a "hip young Democrat versus stodgy neocon" race, which makes things more of a close match.

I have worked out in the sun at that temp and just stayed hydrated and was fine. Then I got to go home to my AC because I live in a first world country. :smug:

Yes and no. From the point you're arguing, they have less than zero standards. Negative standards, even. From their point of view they have two standards: money and a visa to pretty much anywhere that isn't the RPI. Can't really blame them for that, the Philippines being the shithole that it is, but flip bitches are best avoided except for LBFM experiences.

Regardless of how much they are fucking up or not fucking up.

It feels like its the only political group that actually wants and tries to do what the people who voted for them ask for in the right wing side of the fence.

The Dems do some of what the voters want as long as its gay race communism focused, but if it takes actual effort, and it always seems marred with limp wristed incompotence. Like Biden went half measures on legal battles against Trump, Spanberger fucked up the Virginia redistricting, Tallarico cant run as an open homosexual, Mamdani is not purging the jews (a newly bipartisan position!). Maga seems finally as equally effective in bringing what their voters want for the R side as the Dems have been, which is a big improvement. Basically nobody wanted anything Dubya did, I cant think of a single fucking thing that faggot did that was good or anyone liked. Maybe someone can speak up, but No Child Left Behind ruined fucking child hood education, Patriot Act fucked all kinds of things upped, War on Terror fucked up even more. Major economic issues. Amenest and open courting of illegals over his own race. The whole shebang of awful. The voters do NOT want Dubya or anything like him again.
 
I just want to point out that it's concerning how Trump's actions with Iran + Vance getting shut out + Thiel booking it to Argentina all make sense from the conspiracy lense that they all know the Iran conflict is going to escalate to Israel getting hit and then Israel is going to fling nukes everywhere.

Everyone has been criticizing Trump for this continued bullshit with Iran, half of it comes from people who think we never should have started it, the other half from people who think we should have already finished it. But what if Trump knows that by stalling Iran with this deal shit he can try to prolong the inevitable that they'll hurl a nuke at tel aviv? I think the issue isn't even the uranium they supposedly have, I think they already have a nuke built and he knows it so he is trying to buy time in classic businessfag style of making new deals that he knows will collapse but will invite further talks.

Vance has been obviously opposed to the war, and is clearly antagonistic to the Iranian perspective, understandably. But him taking a firm stance would be enough for Trump to not want to risk him agitating something further with them and interrupt his stalling.

Thiel just so happens to be jetting to one of the few places that would be safe from an Israeli all out nuke strike. Argentina is out of range of anything they have, as is New Zealand and some of the other spots the richfags have been buying up. People are saying he's moving because he thinks the left will call for his head if they retake power, but he's rich, rich people don't have that same level of concern as normal people. He could easily grease the right palms and be fine even in a commie takeover.

Who knows though, nothing ever happens
