I'm not a fan of Radcliffe, but the adults in his life really seem to have failed him in this regard. He was apparently 17 when this was all going on. My sympathy for him is limited not by his stupid teenage behavior, but by the fact that he currently uses his fame and wealth to advocate for adults grooming and taking advantage of vulnerable youth (the Trevor Project).
iirc they piled on Evanna Lynch (Luna) for a while because she said something similar to Tom Felton, that she was thankful to JKR for her positive influence on her life and that people shouldn’t attack her. I’ve seen a lot of troons salivating at the possibility of PCOS being classed as an intersex condition, because that would mean suddenly 10-20% of women are trans. But it’s not a disorder of sex development, it’s a hormonal disorder, like guys with low testosterone or a thyroid disorder. (it was just renamed to stress that it’s an endocrine/metabolic thing, so hopefully that puts an end to it.) Point is they only care about women outside the norm if it gains them points.

I would like to (tentatively) go to bat for lukewarm progressive celebrities by saying this: They're not actually people.
By that, I mean that they don't really go through introspection and truly think about the shit that they peddle. They live in a miasma of political gas, and they passively huff it while going about their day. Their peers pass luxury beliefs around like cocktails and they never have to deal with the consequences. Maybe they even have a queer friend - they certainly don't have an actively conservative one, since that is the realm of hysterical boomers. They have political takes, sure, but they're the same ones regurgitated by their environment - nothing new, nothing brave, nothing sparked by a complex inner self. It's like when a dog barks at you when you walk by - there is no malice, only stupidity.
Then again, maybe Radcliffe has been uniquely belligerent and I'm simply unaware of his antics.
