Is it just me, or is Mayor of Detroit more of a punishment than an accolade?
Duggan, despite his shortcomings and controversies, did help Detroit when the city needed it the most. Unfortunately, being a white male probably led to him being scrutinized, criticized, and hated more than a black person would - especially when one considers how awful Kwame Kilpatrick was as Mayor of Detroit, but people want to memory hole his problems and his still open restitution judgment that's still outstanding.
Even if it's true Duggan lacked the money and the momentum for the gubernatorial race, I'm half-convinced his former party twisted his elbow to drop out because his presence would siphon votes away from whomever wins the Democratic primary. Maybe I'm wrong, but politics is so full of weird stuff who knows what really goes on behind the scenes.
Tulsi was a genuinely independent person, by all accounts. Hope she lands well.
Leaving now when things are basically factored in and normal (gas was $3.52 for me today) and everything's in motion lends more to the idea that her husband really is the priority.
The radio news tried to spin her resignation as a sign Trump is misogynistic. They seem clueless that most anyone having a sick spouse is going to want to adjust their work schedule and demands to spend as much time with their loved one - especially if the prognosis is bad. I also hope she lands well.
CBS interrupted Price is Right to announce this, which just pisses me off.
This is par for the course. Why they couldn't wait for the 12 O'Clock (or hourly) news break to announce it is beyond me. But that's how TV stations operate now. They'll preempt programming for "breaking news" that isn't really so urgent it must be reported right then and there.
It makes me believe at this point the only reason they do the Trump bad shtick is because the show is on life support with mostly TDS viewers to keep up the numbers, I wonder how it will fare after 2028 or when the next big bad thing takes focus.
Is South Park genuinely funny any more if you take away the Trump Bad schtick? I still remember when they were popular back in the late 1990s/early 2000s and it seems like they jumped the shark at some point back then with the show being a shadow of its former self now.

If I recall, Flint was given the new pipes and the other resources needed to replace everything in the city only to have city leaders drag their feet with the replacement process. Nobody denies this is an ongoing serious health issue, but city officials seemed to lack the necessary urgency to replace the pipes when it get the resources it asked for.
But how did a known crazy person, with a stay away order, somehow have a pistol in Washington DC, where such things are illegal without special permissions?
I think this questions somehow answered itself.
Seriously, though, seeing how many "close encounters" Trump has had lately - both during his campaign and since he took office - is some scary shit. Prime Minister Abe must really be looking out for him at this point.
