USUS Politics General 2: Hope Edition - Discussion of President Trump and other politicians
They provide zero benefits to the local area especially because they negotiate tax exemptions. For example, on top of a property tax exemption, Facebook negotiated a 20 year sales tax exemption in Louisiana which means that they don’t have to pay sales tax on any equipment they buy to outfit the data center.
They provide only a handful of jobs because they use specialized construction companies that travel around the country and the actual data center staff is just a few security guards and people changing hard drives.
However, what they don’t do is consume your water or drive up your electricity rates. They recirculate water just like a car’s radiator and they buy/build their own power. The Democrats just discovered a perfect scapegoat for their dumbass green energy policies that have massively raised the price of electricity.
The tech companies deserve this though because they were big into the Climate Scam until they needed a massive amount of reliable electricity that renewables can’t provide.
people that have to live around data centers have been complaining about a constant low hum sound that can heard for miles. You can't even sell your home and move away if that shit happens to your neighborhood, it is just over for you financially. there are a million reasons to hate these things and basically none to like them.

To add to this, in a lot of states with high property taxes, rental developers and big companies get exempted. If a politician starts talking about how we can’t have a blanket homestead exemption because it’ll destroy the budget (homesteads are a small percentage of total property taxes revenue, dwarfed by commercial real estate), ask them why apartment buildings for immigrants and office towers for out-of-state companies are already exempt.
Small businesses and homeowners get stuck with the bill.

That is probably the bitcoin “datacenter” in Texas that’s just a bunch of shipping containers stuffed full of off-the-shelf computers with giant fans on top. Because they cheaped out, it makes a ton of noise. It’s another leftist/RINO scam as it only exists to get paid by the power company to consume useless excess wind energy to stabilize the green grid.
A real datacenter is just a warehouse from the outside and you would never think that it was full of computers someone didn’t tell you.
The anti-datacenter movement is full of schizos and leftists trying to deflect from their failed policies. There are a lot of reasons to dislike them, but it’s mainly boring stuff like wasted land or tax money.
I'll give my unsolicited take on a hypothetical China invasion of Taiwan.
First, I think China can absolute do it. The size difference between militarizes is just too vast, especially at the clip China is building. Now....can China do it efficiently and without losing a shit ton of equipment and men? Fuck no. But the chinks will do what chinks do and throw bodies at the problem until it gets resolved.
Second, the US is obviously prepared for this, and so is Taiwan. So once the invasion starts and it looks like it will succeed, how many contingency plans do you think kick into motion? Either one, or both, Taiwan or the US, will absolutely destroy any of the semiconductor and other critical infrastructure in Taiwan. Zero chance they let China keep that shit. After that the US will block the Straight of Malacca which will grind China's economy to a halt. No chance China can push us back on that. Other countries will pile on, for all the bluster the EU will probably tariff/sanction China, Japan would obviously do so, and Australia would join in and stop selling them coal and other raw materials.
Third, now that semiconductors are dead until TSMC or other companies can rebuild, you nuke half of the upcoming datacenters and any product that requires a high end chip (RIP latest and greatest Android/iPhone/Tesla), grinding tons of industries to a halt. Software engineers have to stop being retarded faggots writing the most inefficient code seen to mankind. Next, since the Straight of Malacca is closed off, large portions of the ME's income drops. China stops being the manufacturing powerhouse because it's lost most of its inputs, either energy or raw materials.
So who wins in this scenario? No one, but some lose less than others. China would probably lose the most, outside of 3rd world countries that just fall off a cliff, but no one cares about them. China imports the vast majority of its energy, for all the talk of nuclear, even solar makes up more in China. And guess what? It takes the energy from coal/oil/gas to make the solar panels. And the oil is an input to a huge amount of downstream products.
TL;DR China would be absolutely fucking retarded to invade Taiwan during Trump's presidency. Not to say that they won't, god knows countries run by dictator's have done even more retarded shit before. Better option would be to wait it out and see if they can bribe a Dem president if they win in 2028, but you're basically gambling another two years down the drain and Xi isn't getting any younger.
of course they did, it is just that what common people did was not nearly as documented as what phaoroahs did. no one gives a shit if peasants fucked their cousins or siblings so why write it down? cultural attitudes towards incest vary a lot by time and place, but even when it is strongly discouraged, some people get in incestuous relationships anyway. if it is encouraged or mandated then the rate of incest goes way up, but it absolutely never goes to zero.

the stories I read were about data centers in new jersey and arizona. some people are reporting vertigo and insomnia. there were recordings from back yards of the noise.
the effects of this kind of shit is basically never measured in a scientific manner before the technology is implemented. it could cause all sorts of problems.
No, "of course" they didn't, because commoners didn't have the pure bloodline of the sun god to preserve. The royalty were inbred for ideological reasons, not because they just enjoyed sister-fucking. Similar reason commoners in Europe weren't nearly as inbred as royalty - the royalty inbred for political reasons. The commoners didn't have primogeniture rules and thus didn't have the same pressure to inbreed.
Humans, like most sexually reproducing species, have evolved instincts and behaviors that guide us away from incest, because that's what evolution does. It selects against behaviors that are bad for your genetic survival.
I think there's definitely something to this that's becoming apparent more recently. I know I've seen someone post a more complete compilation of tweets including this one by Candace in this very thread, where she & other Retard Right figureheads like Ian Carroll were suddenly calling for left-right unity on the basis of fighting the Elders of Zion together.
Yes, that's the #1 Kirk truther preaching unity with the same left that gleefully gravedanced all over totally-killed-by-said-Elders-of-Zion(-and-not-another-leftard) martyr, her late beloved Charlie Kirk, and which still openly thirsts for the blood of anyone to the right of Mao. I'd accuse Owens of being paid off to redirect popular anger among the youth away from leftist kikes in American academia, entertainment & big business onto the Zionists in Israel but I don't think she's intelligent enough to demand to be paid shekels first, as opposed to just finding this latest subversive line persuasive on its face.
point and laugh at these people, here the demographic breakdown of the past few elections.
You could run anyone in this seat with an R after their name and they are going to hit 60-65 percent with ease. we do not vote for dems here, ever. not in my lifetime.
it's been in republican hands since the mid 60s, so yeah, point and laugh at anyone claiming ed can't win the general. This district, hell most of this state.. the primary is the election, the general is a foregone conclusion.

"the democrats will beat him in the primaries"
I'll admit I tuned in partway through the conversation but aren't the primaries when the parties decide their guys?

holy shit, yeah, i totally read that as "dems will win the general".. Complete retardation on my part there. But yes, primaries are when the parties pick their guy.

tbh I'd expect a marginally better knowledge of USA civics from a jeetbot than most actual legal Americans
like how bad grammar is a tell you're ESL, but absolutely flawless textbook grammar is a bigger tell
There is no real benefit to any normal person when a new data center gets stood up. And LOTS of bad stuff.
Data centers fuck with water and power bills and they exist to support an industry which has as its entire value proposition destroying all middle class jobs even stuff like Doctors, they are even trying to build Claude Code but how to do plumbing/electrical tasks where you feed it pics and it generates diagrams on how to fix it.
Worst of all they will fly in jeets to run it instead of hiring local people.
Why would any normal person support a data center?
Nuclear power plants make energy prices theoretically go down. And provide a bunch of decentish jobs. Data centers have no benefits to anyone but elites and maybe not even them.
My skepticism with the data center fear mongering is that it's the exact same playbook China used to suppress industrial output. I know they are interested in AI and it makes sense to me they'd seek to short cut our own.
I think there should be pressure to minimize impact of these data centers but I do think we need them.
Also I think their need for power breaking the taboo of nuclear power could be exponentially more beneficial than their drawbacks.

One thing is that they don'tr really create jobs, and if AI implodes (which it probably will because everyone aside from the hardware manufacturers are either losing money or relying on temporary discounts) then that means there's these massive data warehouses just rotting there
