These sorts of routine diplomatic visits are carefully planned out months beforehand, every single talking point is run through dozens of aids and advisors on both sides so that they can agree on a single narrative, the actual meeting itself is just going through the motions of everything that was already agreed on beforehand in dozens of hours of behind the scenes meetings and negotiations. If both sides could not agree ceremoniously and respectfully on a middle ground narrative between their respective interests then they likely would’ve just cancelled the meeting.

Oil is a global market. Your gas at the pump may not come from the middle east but when trade is restricted more people will be buying oil from the U.S., which raises prices across the board. The U.S. has not actually been hit as hard in energy prices as other places due to exactly the reason you mentioned.
