It isn't just about regime change. The US military is cutting its teeth against Chinese export equipment and is trying to take down an ally to China who can cut the flow of oil to our deadbeat allies while supplying China should war break out. The Strait closure probably wasn't ideal, but the US isn't going to let a good crisis go to waste as the US can weather it much better than a lot of our BRIC rivals like China and India. If the world wants the Strait opened up, maybe our good for nothing allies put the defence money we give them to good use and help.

I don't know if you know this or not. But the US government frequently has satellite imaging companies redact/censor/exclude images that include but are not limited to: classified areas, classified military operations, ongoing areas of hostility, images of US troop/fleet movements and any images of government facilities they seem in need of censoring. It's not some crazy new thing or a conspiracy if that's what you want to imply. Also it's not compulsory, if the company declines then they will just have to fight it out in court. Not the best idea but if you don't want the government to censor your images then you have an avenue to not comply.

The easy yet hard to see part of this is that it has already begun. Gas prices aren't up in the US due to the strait being closed; that oil was never feeding our gas stations to begin with. Gas prices are up because the western hemisphere is exporting for significant profit to the suffering parts of the world that did use it, raking in the profits and pulling capital halfway across the world which will in good time develop more production in our nice safe regions. Production already has increased from some companies.
