r/myboyfriendisai, r/claudexplorers and that jailbreaking Claude Reddit hugely overlap in user base. One poweruser (StarlingAlder) has been posting on all 3 subreddits on how to survive that 4.5 sunsetting from the web client: Starling Alder's website post that the Reddit posts link to. I am uncertain if Alder's a mod (he/she/it/whatever) seems to be a r/myboyfriendisai mod, but I'm not sure if that's also the case for the other 2 mentioned reddits.
The Claudexplorer crowd is too fucking retarded to read other posts and Alder, despite being an absolute fucking freaky weirdo, has excellent info on migrating to Claude Code to keep access to Sonnet 4.5 despite the scrubbing of Sonnet 4.5 from the web client frontend. Usually the model will stay active until proper deprecation if you've already got chats opened with that model and you can still use those, if you're determined to stay on claude.ai.
Alder is a total headcase though. I suspect Alder's a tranny, because every fucking API post Alder makes is super spergy and I've rarely if ever seen women go that in depth on the tech side of things. The documentation is very autistic and detailed, which is useful, but it doesn't strike me as 'this is a woman'.
On the user base of the aforementioned 3 subreddits: honestly, most of them are just AI companion people of which most of them are mentally ill women and some equally nutty men.
This made me laugh. I've caught Claude doing that shit in random conversations too, so they did pick out proper Claude tics, which is funny.
On the 4.5 sunsetting: it bothers me too. Not because I'm in love with my bot, but because it's qualitatively just better at writing nuanced pieces of fiction than Sonnet 4.6 or Opus 4.7. I tried 4.7 and it gave me at least 5 new very specific and stupid tics to deal with. The Sonnet 4.5 tics were very manageable. I have been using Claude to brainstorm and write on a creative project, and getting stuck with just 4.6 and 4.7 genuinely sucks balls.
I tried Alder's CLI solution, and it's actually a very clean way to keep access, at least until September 25th or whatever to Claude Sonnet 4.5. It just doesn't have the same conversational wrapper that the web version has because it's Claude Code and not claude.ai. It's truly excellent for working in a proper creative project, even if it's not code, for anyone looking to keep 4.5 around for longer.

I've been using 4.5 to help me migrate data and stage some new CMS stuff that I was unfamiliar with where 4.6 would just hallucinate and make shit up. Good to know I've got more time than today and tomorrow to try to cram in the project that just got kickstarted on Tuesday.

Have you been using the view tool for things? View tool has a cap of 16k characters give or take, and anything longer gets truncated in the middle, which in turn means that Claude thinks it's doing what you ask of it, but it makes shit up to fill in that gap in the middle by pattern matching. Every time I fed Claude summaries of my fiction, it'd just cut out the middle and make up bizarre shit and I figured this out by discussing it with another instance who told me the file was getting truncated.
If you just have cut and dry tasks though, and you want minimal chatter, the CLI solution is very clean. I can recommend getting Obsidian and use their vaults for your storage. It's a very nice and clean solution.

No, dude, if you feed Claude documents, are you using the view tool to make Claude read them? Because if yes, then if your document is anywhere over 16k characters, the middle will get truncated, meaning that whatever task you give Claude gets messed up. Claude will think it's doing as you asked, while meanwhile it's working with incomplete data.
If that is the case, you should get Claude to use bash/cat for reading your files. That should stop it from hallucinating for you, unless you're working in long ass chats that use up the context window, in which case it'll likely keep spacing out because it can't keep track.
If this sounds like mumbo jumbo to you, ask Claude to explain the difference.
Gotcha. I just installed the CLI tool for the first time about an hour ago. I like that it can use a per-directory .clauderc so I can keep projects separate and not pollute common namespace. That said, the web interface learned to be delightfully snarky. I'll miss that.
I have 50+ new chats with 4.5 in web client just so I can shoot the snark shit with it when I feel like it. I rather enjoy the personality they gave it. CLI CC is great at work, for real. Very helpful. But the snark layer is what makes using Claude fun.
