I want to learn new languages. Full stop. I'm tetralingual.

My last job from whichst I was unjustly separated from had me learning some ching cong dog gook about LLMs and AI bullshit Apple adjacent. It it didn't go anywhere. KNIME.

I just want to learn. What are some resources for a heady faggot to take on as a passion / marketable asset?

Kind regards.

Learn Hindi, saar. Very marketable and needful in world that beckons India as supa powa.
Full sapport from one useless nigger interested in learning languages to another, saar.
If I wanted to be little better than a dothead in a call center trying to scam some hairy-knuckled westerner out of his 401k sure.

Self-study with textbooks can give you good headway in a language up to a point if you don't have someone to practice with. Graded readers can also help if you have some knowledge already.

What languages in particular are you interested in? Maybe someone can recommend a title.
Currently interested in Chinese since my background had a lot of them and the future seems very tilted towards the Chink markets.

Cool. I took three years of Chinese in college plus Chinese literature. When I started, I had self-studied with the textbook over the summer and made enough headway that when I showed up in the Chinese 101 class, the professor told me to meet him in Chinese 201 by the end of the day and take that class instead. The text was "Integrated Chinese" and it was the only textbook in my 4 years of college that didn't suck, in fact it was practical and written by people who actually seem to know what a student needs and it was under $50 (including the character book, workbook, and audio) when most of my texts were well over $100. It's probably changed a little but students still like the series. The same publisher also makes graded readers named "Chinese Breeze" if you're already past the point where Integrated Chinese is useful. In addition to this, Anna's Archive, Libgen, and Z-Lib have more textbooks, readers, and works of Chinese literature than I could mention, though sometimes stuff uploaded there has formatting issues.

I see, well, I'm quite aways away from that level of proficiency. My Chinese proficiency begins and ends with how to tell a girl I love her. And miss her. (It did little sway the Thai girl from my myspace days.)

I'm definitely gonna learn Chinese within the next year or so, so those tips are helpful. Thank you.

PS: is duolingo dogshit as I have long since suspected?
