My boss is one of those people who wears masks in public, has an auto immune disorder, doesn't let people into her home because she's afraid of covid. If this hantavirus crap gets any bigger I could see her shutting down the business out of fear.
I seriously can't do this shit again. Covid restrictions absolutely broke me and changed the very core of who I was. (and also pretty much everyone else) I'd risk dying of a virus with a 90% kill count before I did those fucking lock downs again. Because it's an election year I think an authoritarian response to this hanta crap is absolutely on the table.
They made sure to infect people ahead of time so the Dutch could fail a hospital procedure on the exact day a disgraced doctor could no longer be arrested for his crimes. The Globohomo has truly outsmarted us.
Have we confirmed exactly how this is spreading? I think it might backfire if they try to make it a global pandemic, as it proportionally affects places with poor hygiene practices. So it will eradicate the California homeless and all the illegals and subhumans, and every time an outbreak happens somewhere "civilized" it'll be discovered that it was entirely the fault of a jeet. We will have repeated examples of Democrat and liberal policies being the exact reason why the pandemic spreads, which will reflect poorly on the Democrats during the midterms. I don't think they can even pull off the covid era fraud again because people will be watching for it and those responsible won't escape being arrested this time.
A virus lockdowns for a hemorrhagic fever outbreak is something I can see happening right now especially because its advantageous for governments. Why else after a long pandemic did the powers at be scatter all the possible infected across the world without much though or containment planning. A lockdown for a virus right now would also alleviate some of the economic issues a lot of the world is facing with the global supply of oil being crippled and politicians discussing fuel rationing / lockdowns.

TPTB timed this perfectly. A second round of COVID tyranny combined with the push for digital ID and the Trump admin crashing and burning with its reputation in freefall will quickly bring the world back under the thumb of globohomo where it has stayed for the past decade and where it will belong for at minimum the next few centuries.
Any mutation can result in a change of function, especially in tiny genomes like that found in viruses (less non-coding areas). Still, we'd have to be insanely unlucky for a mutation number that low to result in heightened transmission, since the vast majority of mutations are deleterious. It's actually pretty rare to get a mutation that is beneficial to the organism.
Actually, this strain being so similar to the wild type back in 2018 indicates that transmission rates are still pretty low. Less transmission = less opportunities to evolve = less mutations. If I remember correctly, this is the strain connected to the super spreader event at that birthday party - something like 30 individuals infected. Transmission rates on the cruise are probably pretty similar, only these people have been packed even tighter together on a small ship for an even longer period of time - with less infections, as of now. This news is pretty reassuring, in my humble opinion.
ALSO, the 2018 strain is the one that every virology lab and their mom has been studying for the past 8 years (because it was such a dodged bullet and that outbreak indicated that hantavirus has the ability to be much, much worse, of course). That means its already very well studied. Even if shit hits the fan, that's a leg up on potential prevention and treatment (since the only "treatment" right now is a ventilator and artificial heart, so supportive care in the hopes that the virus burns itself out before it kills you). That's two tidbits of kinda-sorta good news.
