Trump Enslavement Syndrome - Orange man good. /r/The_Donald and any public demonstration of rabid pro-Trump enthusiasm in spite of all reason.

Imagine being so fucked in the head that you think ANYONE who disagrees with you MUST be a liberal and there's absolutely no other possibility.

These faggots would be calling Hitler a liberal if he was alive still.

There's practically nobody out there, as a share of the population, majoring in Hispanic Culture or Film Studies that's then wondering "why can't I get a job." Vast, vast majority of students are doing something that sounds mature, at least, although a huge chunk of the business stuff is kind of trash.

The honest professors will tell you that it's possible for you to get better employment with an advanced degree, but that there's no direct path from, say, an MA in musicology to a six figure income, and that your best bet will be to become a teacher or professor yourself. It's really just for nerds who are too maladjusted to sustain a career in the private sector. If that's you, though, you'll love it!

On the topic of Trump's war against Iran, the Institute for the Study of War put out a Special Report whose title had me smiling a bit. I've mentioned a few times that if Trump's war results in Iran gaining control of the Strait of Hormuz, then that would be the biggest own-goal of any US president in decades. He would rightfully be marked in US history as having fucked over the US and the world for decades to come.

My favorite bit:
The threat extends beyond the Middle East as well. Normalizing this blatant violation of international maritime law threatens to upend global norms and set an extremely dangerous precedent. It risks emboldening other aggressive actors, such as the People’s Republic of China, to assert similar claims over key chokepoints and impose their own rules and restrictions, especially against the United States and its partners.

Trump's previous actions of unilaterally abducting and assassinating world leaders have already set dangerous precedents. Almost everything Trump has done in office in his 2nd term has set dangerous precedents. From cutting funding for cities, counties, and states that disagree with him, to deploying American troops on US soil against American citizens, everything could come around even worse next time. MIGA openly talks about wanting to arrest and kill liberals. MIGA openly talks about preparing for a civil war against Democrats. MIGA is happy when ICE agents kill American citizens. MIGA fears all those things happening to them, but they are fully supportive of it right now. They don't believe any of those things are wrong, except when it happens to them.

The people who complained about gas and grocery prices under Biden are happy to make those sacrifices under Trump. The people who didn't want to be part of any wars are happy that Trump attacked Iran. They make up any justification possible: it's been a 47-year war; Iran was days away from nuking the US; Iran was going to attack the US; Iran is the big bad evil. The people who talked about the Jooz being the secret cabal that controls the world are happy to waste billions of dollars and sacrifice American lives to help Israel. The people who wanted a smaller government and reduced government control cheer on the expansion of government control and surveillance. The people who were against censorship or deplatforming want to censor anyone they hate and deplatform anyone they disagree with.

I hate the "both sides" garbage, and the "but Harris." Trump and MIGA are in control and power right now. It doesn't matter what world people imagine if Harris were president; Trump is president. No one can say things would be worse under Harris. No one can say we would be at war with Iran under Harris. No one can say that gas, oil, and grocery prices would be what they are now under Harris. The people who live on fixed incomes who are pleading for Mr. Trump to save them can't say they would be struggling under Harris. No one knows what today would look like if the last year of American life were different. All of that is cope, and retarded cope at that.

I hope Trump and Israel's war against Iran doesn't end horribly for the US. But as MIGA likes to say "it would be very funny though."

I wasn't, I was dead serious. MAGAloids claim he's a super virile, fit, healthy, strong, sexy alpha young man. Despite being 79 and fat and suffering from dementia

I think I know why a lot of his fans still think he is a fit man.

It is because of videos like the one where Trump tackles Vince McMahon. This was in the 2000s.

Combined with the energy he had circa 2015.

So a lot of people still reminisce about Trump being just like his virile, energetic self from a decade back.

It is like how action movie fans remember Sylvester Stallone from his Rambo days.

Maladjusted nerds need to earn a living too.

It's also a literal cult where they chose to worship the Chris Chan of presidents

Once again, the Hulkster was right. I wonder which USPG2 poster those fat fucks are

I majored in STEM and took a native american studies course as part of my gen ed requirements. Why? I needed the credits and it was available at a time I had an opening. It was actually a fun class and the professor was super cool
Some of the biggest voices in the anti "bullshit major" crowd themselves graduated with bullshit majors

Bill Maher was a english+history major, Michael Knowles was a history+italian literature major, Thiel was a philosophy major, etc. It's hypocrisy for them to shit on majors that don't "break even" given that they themselves wouldn't have broken even if not for being rich. Sometimes it's outright jealousy, like with Yarvin; who failed out of college, but wants everyone to think he's a theory genius.

Thiel and other types that actively want to culturally bankrupt the US are even more insidious. Critical thinking goes against their goals to make people to work jobs they hate and then expire (also ironic that they basically want to turn us into China by bankrupting the humanities. How about those DOGE savings?)

Maybe if they don't want people drowning in debt for studying the same things they also did a few decades ago, we should regulate tuition to make it equal?

Pissing match I was just having reminded me of this. I know it's not Trump related but this feels like the place for Wrongthink on Kiwi Farms.

You know how old people do the whole gEnDeR sTuDiEs thing?
I was shocked a while back to find out they actually believe that's a real thing that the kids are all studying Queer Afrocentric Basket-Weaving. Go ask some what the dominant majors are. Common sense, ie thinking about the kids you know, would say that it's business disciplines, engineering, pre-med and pre-law (which is where a lot of more random sciences and humanities come up), education.

Complete disconnect from reality.
Funny enough, I was talking to a boomer IRL, and basically this exact same topic got brought up. They were talking about how bad the graduation rates were vs unemployment. He asked me "do you know what that means?" I just ask what. And his answer was "the degrees they are studying for useless degrees". And I proceeded to go on a short rant about basically the same shit I say in this thread.

The boomers really do think its just dumb kids being useless. They went to college, got a degree but still can't get a job.

Meanwhile we have a " labor shortage " , that needs "elite human capital" to fill these roles. Its a fucking joke.

Which reminds me @mango_reseller.

on your response about the effects of moving to an American workforce rather than continuing to essentially use illegal, and migrant legal slave labor. I think you are only right in the very short term. As in the immediate effects. If there was a sudden cutoff of the labor force they are taking advantage of sure the immediate consequence would be higher prices, and the wages might not go up overnight. But that is only the immediate effect. Long term the market would adjust as far as prices go, and wages would absolutely go up. Its simple economics. What immigration is essentially being used to do, is flood the market with cheap labor. If you have way more supply than demand of anything that drives prices down (and labor is no different), if you bring the supply of labor to a natural level the supply vs demand will go back to a note natural level and the wages will reflect that. But as it stands right now the people advocating for migration (billionaires like musk for h1b type labor, or others that want illegal immigrants) are essentially using that to undercut us, the normal working class people that just want a job.

Not wanting to cut off what essentially amounts to billionaires manipulating the labor market in their favor because it might make some things more expensive in the short term is just short sighted. Honestly its basically the boomer mentality of not caring how much damage something is doing things can just keep going along as they are. That is until the inevitable happens and there is a collapse of some kind.

New Jersey (((MIGA))) in action.

I'm really getting annoyed at Trump's continued chickening out. I want to see propaganda videos of American babykillers hunted like the rats they are by the IRGC intercut with Pallas cats hunting, a-la Hezbollah's videos hunting Trump's masters in Lebanon intercut with steppe eagles striking.

Yeah, the people who actually major in those useless majors are pretty slim and usually go on to grad school in them and end up teaching it and even then usually parts of the major are taught as gen ed for other majors. Most people who take those courses only do so for fun or as a minor.

I majored in STEM and took a native american studies course as part of my gen ed requirements. Why? I needed the credits and it was available at a time I had an opening. It was actually a fun class and the professor was super cool
Conservatives truly are beyond retarded. The closest I came to a 'useless course' in my own undergrad was a couple of bio courses, but I guess if I did a course in mathematical logic or some social science subject that would have been dangerously close to deep thinkin'.

I agree 1000% (on the first part). (Mass) Immigration is a bandaid. It's meant to very slightly prop up a failing birth rate until a different fix is found, or until the politics of a country change so that the entitlement programs start to reflect the dwindling workforce and/or worker-to-retiree imbalance.

As for wages going up long term, I'm unconvinced. The economy of the US is not healthy long-term currently, and it's being held up by a lot of tricks, immigrant labor being one of them. I just don't believe that current US citizens would handle the product inflation necessary to rebalance things.

I strongly believe there's nothing wrong with less people being born, in the US or elsewhere. Maybe the US just weren't meant to have 300 million people, or 400 million people, or any specific number and that was just a population boom that was meant to normalize lower. There's no reason to pour in immigrants so that we always get an increasing population. What we need to do is rebalance entitlement programs to account for the slowing/decreasing population.

I do hold that there's nothing really wrong with someone coming to the US in search of a better life, which is in my opinion an essential part of what the US are. I just think that we need to decide, as a country, whether we want to retain this in my opinion vital part of the US, or the benefits people are getting for being US citizens. The US were able to sustain the former for centuries, because it didn't have the latter (and also it had a constantly exploding population). I think we can decide one way or the other, but there needs to be a decision or we all go under.

I agree that billionaires hire H1Bs etc to drive down costs, but I feel like that's mostly an issue due to a mis-application of current US immigration policy (i.e. H1Bs meant to do the jobs Americans CAN'T do), more so than anything else. I wouldn't blame the player, I would blame the system in this case. If there's US engineers that CAN do these jobs (which is not a certainty), they should get those jobs, end of story. This is just how the existing immigration law works. If there's not, then yes a foreigner SHOULD have this job. Just apply the immigration law properly.
