💼 Careercow Donald J Trump - 45th/47th President of the USA, convicted felon, Epstein bro, Putin/Netanyahu simp, serial liar, sore loser, cheat and the Chris-Chan of Presidents. Lost a war to Iran and algae. THIS IS NOT USPG2.

we picked the wrong moment to try to "punish" her for it
You make some good points, but this last statement has a real "beatings will continue until morale improves" feel to it. She's a loathsome cunt, and had she not rigged the primary against Bernie Sanders, we wouldn't have had to deal with Trump at all, because that fat orange faggot can't win an election unless his opponent is a woman.

I once might have started the next sentence with "the 'His/Her Royal Majesty' aspect being equal," but honestly, it isn't equal. I cannot fathom Hillary being anywhere near as entitled, narcissistic, and flat-out despotic as has Trump has proven to be. We can't even say "well, she would've been a warhawk against Iran" anymore because Trump is now doing that himself and they're trying to whitewash it as a good thing! Like, that's the thing: virtually any criticism you could levy at Hillary, Trump is equally if not probably tenfold guilty of, with plenty of precedent to pick from. The choice was between "some of the damage versus all of the damage", and we picked the latter.
What I would say about this is that Clinton was on the worse end of normal politician. Take her out of the context of running against Trump, and she's just another neo-liberal uniparty stooge, except with a vagina this time. In the Hillary timeline, I can only imagine she would have ended up with Bush levels of disapproval by the end, but you know what wouldn't exist? The MAGA cult.

Consider what MAGA actually is when you get down to brass tacks: It is a sleazy loud mouth old guard New Yorker yuppie, his cabinet and staffers are all Patrick Bateman-esque amoral sociopaths who are primarily supporting him to further their own goals, and to bring about a perceived better America (They have more money and power, and the people they don't like are all dead)

His strongest supporters are the island of misfit toys: anyone who was deemed too crazy to participate in serious politics pre-2012: Libertarians, White nationalists, Christian fundamentalists, Conspiracy theorists, people in cyclical poverty, primarily working class Whites, gig economy workers, and conservative leaning immigrant men, as well as societal stakeholders who feel threatened by leftist policies, baby boomers, social climbers, career middle managers.

Who are their financial backers and political allies? Business conglomerations, news media conglomerations, warhawks, foreign populists, authoritarian thinktanks, so called "illiberal democracies" and their leaders. What are their primary goals? For Trump, it's making money, keeping himself and his family out of prison for their many crimes, and getting back at his enemies. For his supporters? A myriad of reasons, they want to stick it to the people who called them crazy, they want to make life hell for the people they believe caused all the economic chaos, if they have money, they want to make sure nobody can touch it, and they want policies that enrich them. The goals of their backers are to destabilize the political system of the United States, because the more unstable and broken and corrupt our system is, the more able they are to bribe and manipulate the government for their own ends.

So, a charismatic leader with aspirations of evil, surrounded by amoral sociopaths with weird beliefs, supported by disaffected mentally ill people and older generations trying to prevent meaningful change, backed financially and politically by oligarchs and warmongers, all trying to get revenge on the establishment and destroy the most functional parts of our country, because they're either criminals, insane, sociopathic, or have genuinely been made victims of incomprehensible economic forces above their heads.

In the Hillary timeline, even if it was a terrible presidency, they probably did just barely enough to quell the flames to prevent this hell coalition from coalescing, we could have recovered from a Clinton presidency. What has happened is seriously going to take us decades, if not a century to root out, if it doesn't mark the end of American stability permanently. You could never get me to endorse Hillary Clinton as a politician if there were nearly any other choice, but if it were between her and any MAGA politician of any flavor or variety today, I would vote for her in a heartbeat.

It's honestly just a matter of "play the hand you're dealt". For those of us who wanted Bernie, we got fucked. We were put in a disadvantaged position where the choice was between the one who fucked us and someone who even at the time we knew was far worse. If she didn't rig the primary, no, we wouldn't have been in that position, but she did, and that was the choice we were left with. That choice was unavoidable at this point. We couldn't just close our eyes and make said choice go away. Lashing out, crossing our arms and pouting, whatever, none of it would get us out of that circumstance. Those were the only two options we had left and that wasn't going to change.

Call it a hit to morale or your pride, but pragmatically, what's the best course of action at that point and--furthermore--puts us in the best position to recover?

Yes, Trump's victory stopped Hillary dead in her tracks, but I honestly cannot see how doing so was worth the hit to us. Maybe this is just the poker player in me talking, but sometimes you just gotta take a loss and bide your time for a better chance. It sucks. It's something we shouldn't have to do on the political stage, especially against those who are ostensibly on our side. But knowingly making things worse for ourselves solely to take a toothless moral stand? If anything, that sounds exactly like how the same neoliberal apparatus in charge of the Democratic party--the one Hillary is part of--continues to clinch defeat from the jaws of victory time and time again, rather than just strategically conceding particular battles if it means we can stay in the fight as a whole. We keep picking the stupidest hills to die on!

This is a new level of sad.

say, quick question. what happens if gas goes up to 10 bucks because of this? not in the california tax kind of way, i mean this is the national average now
Go to any car dealership. Right now, the lots are full of pickup trucks and big SUVs because they are already selling slowly. Meanwhile sedans and hatchbacks sell as soon as they are put on the lot, and small "crossover" SUVs are also selling. Granted, part of that is how expensive big vehicles have become, but gas prices are undoubtedly playing a major role.

If gas hits $10/gallon, or even stays at 5+ for an extended time, then you might see dealers dumping pickup trucks at massively discounted rates and eating the loss, just to try and get them off the lot so they can clear inventory space for smaller vehicles that have more demand, and thus more profit.

Honestly im starting to think Iran might be the dickheads here
How?
Iran is a much smaller and less powerful country than the USA. They have only a few cards and one of them is that pond. You bet they're leveraging that.

Let me put it this way, do you know what a porcupine is? It's a small, timid animal. You're an intelligent human and you know if you try and attack it, it's gonna feed you a mouthful of painful quills.
You do so anyway despite everyone's warnings, simply because someone you deem a friend, who in reality wanted you to get rid of the animal egged you on.

Is the porcupine the dickhead for feeding you the mouthful?
C'mon dude. You're so close to breaking the conditioning. Do better.

Sure, why don't we calculate how long a laser beam must be concentrated at a spot on metal to set it on fire, and what is the wattage of that laser.
Let's see how temperature will affect its output. That laser will need to be cooled with liquid fucking nitrogen.
Moreover, what if it rains? Significant energy is lost due to scattering.
What's the size of a field lens required to focus the laser? How hot is the spot? Yeah, that lens need to be cooled as well.
The surface of a plane is also not flat, it's a curved surface.
So how would such a system get steered to track the target?

Nigger. Sneed.

Any ceasefire or deal with Trump isn't fit to wipe your ass with.

1000140085.jpg

The people who own this country don't give a shit about gas prices, they're flying private, they're shorting it on the way down and hoovering up the dip.

Speaking of which, the Dust Bowl started like five years before the ‘29 crash. Wall Street: “line go up, can't stop won't stop". They’re just ringing the bell louder.

Man, Trump is really lucky the court found the "procedural" errors before primaries start! Close call I'd dare say!

This was also when the prison system (prison system!) expanded dramatically, the hard drug epidemic began in earnest, and wage stagnation relative to productivity fell off...
You also can't leave out closing all the mental hospitals and transitioning to "community based care" aka dumping them out on the streets, and letting the prison system scoop a bunch, but not all of them up.

There might be some discounts on full size trucks. A lot of Ford and Chevy trucks now have 4 cylinder engines that are a lot better on gas than the usual V8's. Look to see if the big three start cutting shifts in their full size truck plants this summer.

All the truck manufacturers have turbo 6s except GM, which has a turbo 4. Toyota doesn't even make a V8 anymore. The problem is that despite the reduced cylinder count they aren't meaningfully better on fuel, especially if you're doing actual truck stuff with them. Since the early 2000s, they just keep getting taller and heavier too.

Despite GenX social media arglebargle about "I love my Dentside Ford! That was a MAN's truck! It had crank windows, 50hp, and got 2 gallons per mile, but it was CHEAP and AMERICAN! Trucks now should be half the price they are and have no electronic crap!"... they still sell, with the biggest cab and shortest box, when gas is cheap. Slap a tonneau on the bed, and it's really just a donked out Crown Vic for honkies.

I honestly don't know whether this belongs in the Enslavement thread or here, but this is plain idolatry. Surely all the evangelicals and rabbis in attendance know this is hateful to God. At least this was at a Trump golf club, but Trump really, really would want this atop the planned DC Arc de Trump or Donnie's version of that rotating golden statue in Turkmenistan.

I think Toyota can facilitate the V8 diesel for aid agencies and customers who are purchasing for markets where EPA or EEA (EU) rules aren't an issue. Perhaps that's just reselling previous model Land Cruisers at a discount tho. There is of course the hybrid V8 5.0L Toyota Century for those of us who are captains of Japanese Industry, the Emperor of Japan, or very well heeled middle aged ex ricers.

Dumbass legit says that this 3 day bullshit, initiated by Putin's command for his Gay 9 ww2 circlejerk parade, will lead to greater peace lol
Going to be hilarious if Russia itself breaks the deal.
Ukraine won this exchange either way.
Putin declared ceasefire starting on May 8th so they can have their parade on May 9th. This parade is already a shambolic mess because no foreign leaders except completely irrelevant losers attend and they have no vehicles this year because Putin is scared of being in public for longer than necessary. Notably Xi isn't there this year to act as a human shield so an attack on the parade wouldn't be an attack on China or anyone relevant.
Even the subbotnik was cancelled this year, for unknown reason, for the first time in its entire history going back more than 100 years. It took place when the Nazis were outside of Moscow in 1941, but in 2026 the government is too scared of something.

Zelenskyy responded to the May 8th ceasefire by declaring ceasefire from May 6th lasting for a longer period of time.
Russians violate that ceasefire of course, and bomb a kindergarden among other things.

So, after Putin's May 8th ceasefire goes into effect, Ukrainians bomb several oil refineries, industrial facilities and an FSB building. A swarm of drones is also intercepted by Moscow's air defenses.

Putin presumably runs to daddy Trump and now there's a new ceasefire from May 9th through 11th, and a prisoner exchange on top of it. The Russians treat Ukrainian POWs the way the Japanese treated American POWs (systematic torture, starvation, murder), so this is always welcome.
1778277669981.png
This will not lead to anything further, since the Russians are not interested in peace, and I wonder whether even Trump still thinks otherwise at this point.

Anyway, Zelenskyy published a presidential degree permitting Putin to have a military parade by declaring Red Square a protected space for the duration of the parade regardless of whether the ceasefire ends up being implemented, for "humanitarian reasons".
1778277778052.png
For context, earlier this week a Ukrainian drone penetrated Moscow's air defenses and hit a building a few kilometers from the Kremlin.

Zelenskyy tasks the US with enforcing the ceasefire on the Russians.
1778279310091.png
Under any other US President, this would mean a lot, but Trump lets Putin walk all over him and regularly eats humiliations, so it's probably meaningless.

Trump published a document about WW II celebrations, and this is how he ends it.

Retards are still debating endlessly why the execution of Floyd and Good was justified.
Because in America, nuance is bad. If you love pancakes, you MUST hate waffles. If you're not painting Floyd with angel wings, you're not allowed to think that maybe police being the Street Judges from Judge Dredd, with the power to create, decide upon, and enforce the law is a bad idea.

Dogmatism runs so strong in Burgerland it isn't funny. Or it is.

I remember flirting with lolbertarianism as a freshman, which didn't even last until midterms. The deciding factor was an invited speaker at the libertarian club, showing up in a sweatstained T shirt which said NOLIBS in the style of the NASCAR logo.

The example he gave for why GUBBMIMT BAD is the Love Canal, the first EPA Superfund site.

The Love Canal is in Niagara Falls, NY. It was dug by William Love, a serial real estate con artist in the 1880s-90s. When it was clear it would never make any money, he took what investor cash he had, and fled to England, leaving a big, useless trench. It sat dormant for decades, and then was used as a town dump.

In 1942, the Hooker Chemical Co., who had Army contracts, lined the dump with clay, and over the next 10 years, filled it with 20 kilotons of toxic waste. In 1952, Hooker capped the dump with clay, and sold it to the local school board for $1, and with an indemnifier absolving themselves of any and all responsibility, and no restrictive covenant to prevent building on top of the dump.

The waste itself was relatively safe, as long as the clay encasement wasn't breached. But it was.

The school board planned to use the least desirable parts of the land (the literal toxic waste dump) they bought to build a school, and sold the rest to developers. Hooker "suggested" that it would be better used as a park, but the school board moved the school a few yards, and built right next to it anyway, breaching the cap.

The developers breached it building houses, and the City breached it while hooking them up with water and sewers. By the 70s, the area was a cancer hotspot. Drums of chemicals even popped up through backyards.

Between 1977 and 1984 the EPA cleaned up the site, demolished the school and some of the houses, and built a better containment for the most hazardous waste, and fenced the area off. It was taken off the Superfund list in 2004.

According to the speaker, this wasn't a systematic failure across multiple levels. This was a case of a private company being angels, corrupt gubbmint not heeding warnings, and the EPA gaining power to become the Great Satan.
