I was shocked a while back to find out they actually believe that's a real thing that the kids are all studying Queer Afrocentric Basket-Weaving. Go ask some what the dominant majors are. Common sense, ie thinking about the kids you know, would say that it's business disciplines, engineering, pre-med and pre-law (which is where a lot of more random sciences and humanities come up), education.
There's practically nobody out there, as a share of the population, majoring in Hispanic Culture or Film Studies that's then wondering "why can't I get a job." Vast, vast majority of students are doing something that sounds mature, at least, although a huge chunk of the business stuff is kind of trash.
Complete disconnect from reality.

Yeah, the people who actually major in those useless majors are pretty slim and usually go on to grad school in them and end up teaching it and even then usually parts of the major are taught as gen ed for other majors. Most people who take those courses only do so for fun or as a minor.
I majored in STEM and took a native american studies course as part of my gen ed requirements. Why? I needed the credits and it was available at a time I had an opening. It was actually a fun class and the professor was super cool
