The using-the-same-name thing is less of an issue for the steam controller since there's only two of them and they already look very different, than it is for iPads and such where a different name or version number would be much more helpful.

I had some issues with HDMI 2.1 on my home theatre TV, so I contacted support.
"You need to install the update."
"Will you reimburse me if the update ruins my TV."

I eventually got an email promising I can send the TV back if the update ruins it. Lo and behold, the update removed the option to start the TV directly into an HDMI input, it instead only could start into the shitty "Home" screen that shows various apps I don't use and has an annoying menu to get to the HDMI inputs. This didn't qualify as "ruined" to them, so I did a credit card chargeback. Fuck "smart" TVs, what I really want is just an 83" OLED monitor.

Ryobi maintains battery compatibility for decades and dummies think they are bad so they regularly go on deep discount. Got a garage full of them, can't say I've been disappointed with any. Have fixed and flipped a handful of houses with them not a tradey. I typically go for their plus line which is brushless. All the same shit unless you are stepping up into non private equity owned brands.

For SBD, DeWalt is their professional grade product and Craftsman, Stanley, and Black and Decker are their consumer grade products for hand tools and then they have specialty tool companies and outdoor products.
I would say it's similar to GMC and Chevrolet or Lincoln and Ford, etc. It's essentially the same vehicle underneath with some slight differences. Most people don't need Milwaukee or DeWalt in their toolbox at home to hang pictures or take off face plates on their outlets or what have you. If you're on job sites day in day out then you should probably buy them after you break the Harbor Freight version.

Ryobi has a huge product range, including lots of neat gadget-tier tools that take their main batteries, like portable soldering irons, hot glue guns, work lights, radios/speakers, vacuums, blowers, dremels, about every size of fan you can think of (including ones with misters)...lots of neat gimmicky shit. They also have a bunch of factory outlet stores (at least where I live) so you can get blemished or refurbs for super cheap. Nothing particularly professional jobsite-tier, but for homegamers and hobbyists, they're great.

Ryobi does have this one chargeable electric screwdriver that can turn to have a handle or be flat, it has worked incredibly well for me over the last 5 years in being electric but not having retard torque so it doesn't screw things down to the breaking point.

A lot of the labor is pick n pack, he's doing the full warehousing and not just dropshipping style shit. That's a lot of hands, so his labor numbers are inflated. That's also part of why he was, at one point at least, interested in expanding creator warehouse to fulfil other peoples product, make better use of the labor.
In reality, his product 'design' team is probably tiny, and very evidently is a pretty amateur shop, that's both failing to retain talent and refusing to bring in any old hats that know the space better than they ever could.
That's why the LTT store is mostly overpriced low to mid range clothing, and random shit from random chinesium manufacturers. His sourcing seems to mostly be one or two clothing 'enthusiasts' who reach out to a few wholesalers for basic shit that they can print very bog standard designs onto, with the occasional Linus 'Good Idea' that goes through some 15 minute Alibaba manufacturer searching. But he lacks that old hat, that knows how to work with the overseas manufacturers, and knows how to sanity check his design early, before the manu promises "we can totally do that" and tries their best to fail to make a sample. Sometimes you're just setting the chinks up for failure, and old hats save you both time and money in those moments.
But even if he did bring on real talent, he'd also need to actually grant them authority, which judging by his CEO's non-existence, simply isn't in the cards. Control freaks outside their domain of expertise are always the most destructive.
