If you have absolutely no life, no responsibilities, your time is worthless, and your phone is a toy rather than a tool that needs to work, I'm sure custom ROMs are a blast.

I just can't tolerate how locked down they are. Apple products are a great experience as long as you're doing Apple-sanctioned things the Apple-approved way, but they will shut your ass down the moment you even consider trying to color outside the lines.

Motorola phones are cheap, they have headphone jacks, SD card slots, and they're perfectly fine giving me the keys to root my phone as long as I accept voiding my warranty, so I can do all the weird shit I like. I'm pretty happy with that arrangement and they've been my go-to for over a decade now.
 
+1 for Jewgle Pisshole with Graphene.

It's the best phone in the same way that the United States of America is the best country: it's not particularly good, yet somehow everything else is so much worse.

ETA: I also have not had any issues to speak of.

i have a pocophone and its definitely the best ratio of price to hardware but the os sucks and you cant install graphene on it or anything
 
Landline really is best, if you can still get it. Although that increasing and astroturfed dependency on "smartphones" seems to mean you may have to have one just to get by.

If the latter is the case, I think Android is better than iOS?
 
If you don't care about compatibility with Google Services, than what does Graphene OS offer over Lineage?

I don't get why people like landline. It is less private than VOIP because unlike VOIP it's wired to your actual house.
 
GrapheneOS really kills the paradox of choice. Unfortunately the Tensor chips aren't very competitive. The cope is they have a dedicated NPU, but if you're using GrapheneOS you're probably not using any software that will take advantage of it. I really wish they'd add HDMI over USB-C like some Samsung phones have.
 
i've had a oneplus 9 pro for a couple years now, to unlock it you just send them an email with the serial number and they give you the unlock code so you can put lineage on it. no major problems and everything on it still runs fast. china indeed numba wan.

Shame their customer service is complete shit. I loved my N100, but the N30 5G is only hanging on because they keep pushing Android 14 updates. It worked so much better on 13. I hate that you can't download and jailbreak the damn updates anymore. It's OTA and the bootloader is locked by default.

I bought a OnePlus specifically to root it, and now it's too much of a pain in the ass to do so and keep it running.

My phone is easy to root but I gave up rooting. You lose play integrity and I'm tired of playing the cat and mouse game with the leaked keyboxes to keep it. Phone modding has come a long way from the early days of rooting. You can't do everything but there's a lot more you can do with an unrooted phone than you used to be able to.

Example: Debloating with Shizuku, Swift Backup with Shizuku, rootless JamesDSP, youtube revanced doesn't need root, and DNS-based adblocking.

Yeah. If I went back to a Nexus series or Pixel, it wouldn't really be difficult, but these days I just want it to browse here, PipePipe (NewPipe is awful), and occasionally send a quick text/email. I stopped caring, but I reserve the right to be pissed that I stuck with the brand because they were known to be rooter-friendly, and then just said "Fuck off" to that entire subsect.

The Nord series wasn't all that much worse than their flagship, but seems like they've stopped cheaper models. I laughed like hell at their 'want to be apple ecosystem but we're just a bunch of jeets' expensive tablets and shit..

In short:
  • Apple is gay and pozzed and sells your data and locks you out of installing software on devices you bought and paid for.
  • Google is gay and pozzed and sells your data and is attempting to lock you out of installing software on devices you bought and paid for.
  • Some incredibly autistic and possibly schizophrenic nerds have been painstakingly stripping all the gay pozzed shit out of Android and publishing it as GrapheneOS, which does not sell your data or lock you out of installing software on devices you bought and paid for.
  • While you can put GrapheneOS on anything in theory, they only officially support Pixel phones.
Ergo, even though Google and Android are gay and pozzed, Pixel phones are de facto the best option because they are supported by GrapheneOS, which is literally just an Android fork with the gay pozzed spyware and adware and bloatware cut out at a system level.

There are other FOSS Android forks like Lineage, /e/ and previously Calyx as well as Linux distros like PureOS, Sailfish and postmarket, Graphene seems to be the frontrunner for reasons I'm not qualified to speak on because it's the only one I've used. I will say that the barrier to entry was very low and it has been very stable/reliable in my experience so that probably has something to do with it but I don't know I'm not a fucking nerd.

That's the difference. It has nothing to do with hardware nor Apple vs Jewgle vs Samsuck vs whatever and everything to do with circumventing the gay retarded draconian dystopian jewish indian dogshit horseshit both of those companies are trying to push on their customers.
 
I have very little reason to use anything other than an iPhone. My biggest annoyance is the idea of buying a phone from a carrier, having it junked up with a bunch of bloat and promotional bullshit I don't want, and overall mediocre support. Shit on Apple all you want, but I'm very pleased that I can use my phone without the goyshit inbetween. I don't care much about sideloading applications, I'm basically only using my phone to call, text, GPS, browse the web, YouTube Premium piggybacking off a friend's plan and instant messaging.
 
You can use a google phone and install graphephoneOS if your interested. I think its only supported on newer google phones though.
