I hate this reasoning so much.
It's the broken windows theory, allow disorder and small crimes to happen and you create an environment where you invite serious crimes to happen.
If you allow lolicons/shotacons to run rampant and pretend it's not a problem, it creates the environment where being attracted to children is seen as more acceptable.

I can't feel joy when all I see in my mind's eye is a 60 year old regulator being shown this image and going "oh so this should all be banned then, right?". It's not just that though, they also rope in any other hot button issue they can to defend or deflect. So now when someone looks at this issue they are also looking at censorship, broader UK politics, and whatever else they bring up to get away from the core issue of them being into animated children.
