Creepy Unsolved Mysteries - From unsolved murders to unidentified people to unexplained supernatural events, what are some of the creepiest unsolved mysteries you've ever heard of?

Or her home life was so shitty it was preferable to leave home in the pouring rain.

Her parents were mad that wypipo didn’t do enough to find her. If they’re big enough pieces of shit to do that, then anything they say about her home life is suspect. From your link:

Above this quote in Wikipedia was all the media attention her case received.
Pretty ironic considering her case is one of the more well known missing persons cases.

Yeah it pissed me off reading it considering all the media attention it received, which was included in the linked Wikipedia article.

So when those same parents said she was a good girl and would never run away, I don’t believe them. I think they’re full of shit because running away from home in the pouring rain is not something a happy kid would do. It would be from a kid who was miserable. The FBI saying that her behavior was not what a typical runaway would do only crystallizes that: she was so miserable she preplanned her trip to go somewhere, anywhere.

We will never really know the motives because it would involve puncturing the lies her parents said and making black people unhappy is not something anyone wants to do.

this case has probably been discussed before on here but the case i often find myself coming back to would be the asha degree case.

like how does a kid who is claimed to be scared of dogs would have the guts to leave on a rainy night, many people who are interested in this case suspect someone close as involved and groomed her.
My guess is that she was probably tired of her overly obsessed parents about how restricted her & her brother were, given that these were super southern black peepol that have a lot of faith in the lord and were conservative about every little thing that Asha probably wanted to run to another family member to live a life like any other kid.

>cause of death: possible decapitation
i assume being that she was found in a field it wasn't some sort of accident that caused it. grim
Decaying bodies in fields attract wild animals that can eat connective tissue leading to decapitation after death.

Or overbearing "my kids are going to be sport superstars" parents abused her after losing a game several days earlier and she was trying to flee them. It's exemplified by the "why is our kid not getting us the attention we deserve" response to not being bigger news.

Bodies in wilderness usually end up totally mangled and often partial. For a corpse to be otherwise intact is weird. The "incompetent coroner loses the organs" story seems plausible. If it was some kind of ritual killing you'd expect others with the same pattern. Meanwhile what was missing is exactly what a coroner would remove.

I definitely heard about this case multiple times before this thread.

I heard more about Brandon Swanson's case before this thread due to speculation that aliens abducted him.

That case is also weird, cause he had a straight shot home, but he just took gravel back roads and got stuck on a farmer's property.

I collect skulls, and heads are stuck on there pretty good.

Arms and legs pop off fast and produce meaty ends that are fun to gnaw on, but the spinal column locks together and there's not a lot to go for in between those cracks.

The idea of a wild animal preferentially gnawing at the cervical vertebrae is far-fetched.

Not saying heads don't walk off on their own, but critters wouldn't be my first thought.

i know that but the coroner report said it was possibly the cause of death. i would assume this means that there's tool marks on the neck vertebrae or something
The issue is always half info, do they say that because they found the head not attached or because there is more evidence otherwise? The cops often hold information back so they don't get false confessions.

Ritual killings don't really exist, not that they don't happen, but if you are doing the process of dissecting something, you are also probably putting in the slightly more effort of properly disposing of the body to hide your intentions.

Animals always eat the soft flesh, they don't gnaw bones unless they need the calcium.

The problem with most true crime stuff is that a lot of it is routine or easily explained if you could see the full picture but we get partial information which invites speculation. Cops can know exactly who did stuff but not have any evidence to convict, so the whole thing gets covered up because its either hearsay or the information targets people who are otherwise untouchable.

There are plenty of serial killers with some ritual they repeat every time, whether from a fetish or some even darker reason.

I don't think this is one of them though because there's a simpler explanation.

Out of the approximately 20k people a year who die of homicide, how many are the victims of serial killers though? 100? 200? A small a fraction. Most of the unexplained ones aren't ritualistic in nature but either drug related or opportunistic, usually both. There's a lot of fucked up people out there and luckily most of them are stupid enough to get caught early.

I know a few people who got a call from a friend or someone they knew asking to hang out or whatever and they turned them down because they sounded off, only to discover a week later it was a plot to rob and kill them that they narrowly escaped, unfortunately it was someone else.

I've read the stats are vastly down in recent years. They've just got down catching them better, especially the ones with weird rituals that make it obvious they're all one guy, and can usually get a pretty good grasp of what specific kind of guy did it.

Also the simple reality that people are easier to catch. You got cell phones pinging towers or taking photos or videos with GPS in the metadata, 23 and Me where DNA from people or their relatives is readily accessible, those amateur divers who find all kinds of cars in bodies of water, etc. Not saying it can’t be done, it’s just a lot tougher these days.
The "investigation of a once prominent figure in the case". Either than that, Roy & Lizzie Dedmon remain POIs.
The people of interest being wypipo while a little black girl was murdered by them not creating a hypershitstorm of anger and rage likely means chances of them the killers are low. Especially since her parents already brought race into it. If the Dedmons had anything to do with it, The Troo Crime Reddit community would’ve already started their witch hunt. Which is why it’s not likely them.
