disputation is not fighting, nor does it have to be uncharitable. I don't know what you mean by the talent stuff. The thread is kind of dead so am trying to revive it
The female ordination is not only imposible because of women are unequal to men btw, it's because of their nature as women and the Sacraments being institute by Christ and the Eucharist being a sacrifice

I find atheism quite funny. If there is a God, eternal bliss awaits. If there isn’t a God, christianity is still the best moral guide out there and provides a happy life and then we return to the void. Either way, the believer wins.

Some atheists are happy without eyes to see or ears to hear the truth and enjoy the heavy yoke that is their bondage to vice; God knows I thought I was happy drinking myself to death. Some folks are happy just occupying their time hating whatever is convenient or has most recently slighted them, be it the government, opposite sex, family, etc.

I find it helpful to remember that God's timing is perfect and he will leave the 99 to find the one lost sheep, in his perfect timing. My parents would be much happier if God intervened prior to my dozenth DUI, but his will / timing shall not be rushed. Only in hindsight can I accept how foolish I was to waste 20 years being a drunkard instead of simply loving the God that has provided me with countless blessings. I still struggle with seeking the kingdom of heaven first and am worried about producing all the talents I can, as I was given so much that needs to be returned with profit to our Lord, Jesus.

Bored today so I figured I'd share my favorite verse with you guys, James 1:22-25

"Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do."

One issue with myself is that I find it easier to just hear the Gospel rather than live it. Knowing that, I think it's important to consistently push myself towards positive growth, or at least recognize the peril of stagnation, which I think this verse incapsulates perfectly. Hope this verse can help those who may have similar issues.

Not at all Catholic (trust me), but I wanted to ask why a lot people who grew up Catholic, especially in heavily Catholic areas, grow up to reject their church. It never seems to be theological reasons either. I’ve seen this in my own family, to the point where my parents went out of their way to raise me non-religious (they then act surprised when I myself got religious but not Catholic) . I know people who got confirmed just to get confirmed and then never show their face at a church again. It happened at my church once but with a Baptism. It’s troubling to see things like that, it’s kind of cheating faith from my perspective.
Is this an American Thing? A Vatican 2 thing? I know Catholics have an older way of doing things but it seems like people being born into it are leaving or converting to something else entirely, like Orthodoxy/Megachurches one hand and then some crazy crystal worship on the other hand. Not meant as an attack, I’m curious.

Not Catholic either, but I think it might have to do with people not realizing how much of a commitment it is to join a religion. People probably just assume it's like a social club you join and then you can just show up whenever you want.

People think baptism/confirmation is the end goal for some reason, rather than the beginning of the long narrow path.
