Which has nothing to do with my point. Deterrence means preventing real attacks, not preventing accidental nuke launches. A key plot point in Peace Walker is MSF getting a nuke to arm Zeke with because of the deterrent effect. It's the plot armor that Kojima used to explain how some mercenaries can just decide to form a pseudo-country.

A better example to support your point would have been MSF getting inside jobbed by the resident gimp retard kike and blaming his pal Huey. Even then it could be argued that the nuke wasn't ready and/or they wouldn't even know who to launch it at.

I think overall Kojima presented deterrence with the sort of rose-tinted conventional cold-war gen X optimism that I would expect from a Japanese man who started writing the plot in the 80s. In most of the games (MGS 1/2/3 and 5) Metal Gears are presented as first strike weapons that negate the deterrence of conventional nuclear weapons, and must be stopped for that reason. In 5 you can even aquire your own nuke to stop other players from attacking your base unless they have "hero" status, which to me reads as "extra strong plot armor." I would consider that an exception proving the rule in his universe.

I do agree that the real reason the US can't let Iran have nukes is because it's a threat to their unipolar world and would cut deep into their sphere of influence in the middle east.
