Zoomer Kiwi Central / Serious Gen Z Discussion - A place for Zoomers to have a discussion about the Gen Z and their future

When I first started in my field 5-6 years ago the hype was that the Blockchain was going to replace the field.

It did not replace or even change the field.

They now claim the same thing about A.I. If by AI they mean actually Indians than they are correct.
Right but my point being that you dont know the future and the people that got into that industry were on average better off for some time than people who did nothing with it.
Future or not, right now every hiring manager is asking how you feel about AI and how you use it in your work, and working at McDonalds isnt going to get you in the industry by the time all of this blows over.

Remember how less than 5 years ago everyone thought the metaverse would be the "next big thing"? While AI will effect the workplace and careers of the future, its currently just being used as an excuse by companies who overhired/coddled worthless positions (see any "day in the life of X tech company" tiktok). LLMs are great and all, but its not going to replace everything either.
Its worth saying that LLMs will never stop being used by everyday people, while the metaverse is just a nonsense concept that was made to get investors horny (I never used it despite having a headset).

Honestly its really sad reading this thread of just young people doomposting. When I found out about it, I expected it to be more positive, or at least less actively pessimistic :/

Metaverse was doomed because VRChat and Roblox were able to do it better way before zucks vr zoom call idea was able to be realized. It was ridiculed by everyone since day 1. There were a bunch of really cool advancements in portable VR and then nothing that could be a practical consumer product.
I think VR will have it’s second wind when they find a way to make a reasonably priced headset with those advancements, and AR glasses will have one more big push before going the way of smart watches.

The fact that you can host your own chatbot/codebot kind if solidifies that CS is permanently changed.

They forget that the purpose of those "Day in a life / Girlboss project manager / professional email nagger" jobs are to be Jew Daycare.

Pay her enough that she earns more than the average White man, thus her dating market just shrunk.

The Chad answer is telling the hiring manager that "A.I is fake and gay" and thar you support the people firebombing Sam Altman's house.

That's... That's what employers at internship are supposed to do... To assign specific tasks... To directly train people... Dude. The only thing I'm hearing here is that teachers aren't the only mentors in the society who fail at their skill training jobs.

Also creativity is severely punished even in creative fields, and even moreso in "normie" jobs, especially these days. I'm not sure if it only happens now and became prevalent thanks to odd meme based on hatred towards Zoomers, or if it always existed towards young people, but being "creative" always backfires with "damn these retarded zoomies are at it again".
What is your purpose on an internship? It is to learn. But what to learn is unbounded. The focus of the intern should be on areas you can't learn in school. The intern is not a passive receptacle to be filled with esoteric knowledge but should be an active part of the process.

An intern is not there to complete specific tasks as such, that is the job of the employees. An intern will be assigned tasks as a part of the learning process. In between tasks what should he do? Should he scroll on tiktok, read a book, hang out in the cafeteria? Or should he try to insert himself or even just observe?

Some individuals are passive by nature and some have been broken down by parents or schools but there comes a point where you can lead the horse to water but you can't force it to drink.

First days, first week, maybe weeks a certain passivity and uncertainty is expected depending on personality and previous experience but there comes a point where some sort of drive is expected.

AI has completely changed computer science full stop. This is a braindead take.

Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer. Were the minimal salaries offered listed on the job ad as they should be or at least told upfront at the interview, the zoom zooms wouldn't pull numbers out of ass to not lowball themselves. They know perfectly well how much should they pay an inexperienced recent graduate, they just want to show them who pulls the shorter end and humiliate them.

I have yet to see a hiring manager who in attempt of explaining why they do things the way they do, doesn't make the HR field hated even more.
I'm talking personally of people going from junior to not junior about a year after starting and trying to bump their levels past prople three times as productive with literally fifteen times the experience.

Even in a first job kind of situation it behooves you to look up salary statistics for your field so as to not look completely insane. Then you highball from there. Ass pulling is of course frowned upon.

There appears to a lot of exectations other people to provide information and education but is there no personal responsibility in any of this? You show up to the job and people exactly tell you everything that needs to done, how it's to be done and then you get evaluated?

You show up to a job interview where all the pertinent information is provided to the interviewee and if it's not then the employer is at fault? Weird expectations.

The metaverse has existed since the 90s in the form of Virtual Worlds, but its always been for super niche stuff like VRML or Second Life (furfag hell:cryblood:). I have never understood why people thought that Zuck's implementation of Virtual Worlds would be the one to change that.

Yes, that's exactly how it works.

You know how some women online will post opinions along the lines of "If men didn't exist, I could dress as revealing as I wanted! I wish my clothes and body weren't sexualized!" Well, they got what they asked for. As a man walking around in 2026, there are plenty of practically naked women all over the place (but that doesn't necessarily make them attractive, although that's a discussion for another time). Obviously you can't approach them so you have 2 options:
1. Walk around like a gooner, drooling, staring, fetishizing specific parts and waiting to get home so you can beat off
2. Ignore women, desensitize yourself to the sexual impulse, and eventually feel nothing when you look at attractive women-in other words, the goal of the quote above
Number 2 is the most functional, and the one followed by most normal people. It's probably a 25/75 mix between mindset #1 and mindset #2, respectively, although that can constantly change as urges are fluid (no pun intended). You can connect examples like this, indicative of a larger problem, as reasons why Zoomers seem to be prude and have less real life sex while simultaneously being possibly the most perverted generation in recent history. However, things were not always this way; Listen to the stories of Gen X and older, and look at popular media up to the early 2010s, and you'll see a far healthier view of sexuality was commonplace. Obviously it wasn't perfect, anyone can see that, but things were clearly far better than the hell on earth we have now. It seems that today, you're either doomed to monk mode or given all the tools to go on your personal solo, screen assisted Eyes Wide Shut gooner rampage. We know who controls fashion and we know who got rid of third spaces, who jacked up the prices of everything, who made the dating apps, who throttles selected social media posts, who distributes hardcore pornography for free to children, and who propped up feminism. For everything they prop up there is always a controlled opposition, but if you consider all the factors around today, and how all these factors foster both inceldom and extreme sexual degeneracy with no middle ground, you can pretty plainly tell that whoever orchestrated these factors (you don't seriously think that "who" has just made all these coincidences?) knows how they would psychologically affect the population. They have the studies, they know how the brain's reward system works. It's one big club, and you ain't in it.

A friend of mine re-sent my CV over to some HR girl and now I got a message on WhatsApp, which started a brief conversation as the stupid ass HR lady stopped replying. God, I hate HR.
Her retarded ass was like "U-Uh... Endless Blabbery? Is this you?" Yes, dumbass. "A-And are you looking for a j-job...?" Bro, why the fuck do you think you got my information for. I've been called autistic more than once over this, but I don't know.
At one point she stopped replying, despite me being as neutral as possible because apparently you've gotta lick them toes and glaze HR people endlessly till they give you what you want. It honestly seems like a humiliation ritual. And in case you haven't noticed, yes, I have never had a job before.
May have lost a job opportunity over this. Guess I'll have to wait six months before anyone even dares to contact me. Or maybe I'm overreacting because it's just been an hour of inactivity from her end. Meh.

You can just call them Jews, it's fine. This is KiwiFarms! But yeah, I get it.
Something that I find distasteful is how commonplace jokes about sexual labor are: "Heh, if you're so broke you should do OnlyFans!" And it's not even perceived as an incredibly rude suggestion, as prostitution is le good now for some reason, but a cheeky joke about how she is actually pretty and could get money easily (ew). But why would anyone think about calling a woman prostitute-worthy? Ew, no, no, no. Ew.

Have any of you guys tried to meaningfully attempt to make a difference through conventional or unconventional paths (participating into politics, discussion groups, some form of IRL organization, etc) despite how futile it may seem? Personally I have and intend to continue working on it even if it kills me, but I'm not sure do any of you guys expect to just sit and wait until the next civilizational savior comes along and fixes everything?

To clarify this post below the original one was the result of the server brapping and telling me I needed to submit the captcha again. I edited it to explain this because I know double-posting isn't allowed.

Or since this shit requires moderator approval perhaps they can just remove this one manually.

That's not what we're here for, bro.
4Chan tried that shit and it didn't end well.
It's best we just sit and laugh at shit.
Also all the archiving.

While that's true to an extent (e.g., being able to obscure find bugs in codebases (but not without false positives)), it seems to mostly have just increased the volume of slop code.

No I do not care about Why It Was Almost Impossible to Make the Blue LED. They got a nobel peace prize for inventing the blue LED and it produces ugly dark blue saturated light and that's fine if it's behind closed doors but they had to go and make it everyone's problem because now every single Christmas light uses UGLY blue LEDs that clash with all the other colors, what the FUCK!!?

Ver archivo adjunto 8870955

No! They add orange to this too and it looks really bad.
Ver archivo adjunto 8870958

And sometimes they add purple. That helps mitigate the ugliness of blue a little bit but it's still really ugly because now the purple clashes with the green. You know something Christmas lights used to look beautiful and they had nice pastel colors that look nice in the snow.

The incandescent christmas lights look so beautiful because instead of the blue light emitting diode LED they were white/yellowish incandescents inside a colored plastic shell that gave beautiful colors! That's the biggest problem currently affecting my generation (I am gen Z)
somewhat recently others have also felt the same thing and made LEDs which mimic incandescents.

It's an interesting question: whether to stay-and-fight or flee; Regardless of what is optimal, working towards either is better than languishing in inaction.

I've been slowly trying to get involved in local politics (when my mental allows it) and its been very difficult to get past aged in boomers who just refuse to pass the torch so to speak. But even then I just keep pushing because I refuse to just be a reddit doomerfag spamming about how life sucks!

Nah I just enjoy the small everyday moments of life. Be a good person and good things will come around.

I've become a dues paying member of a political org recently. Need to actually start going to their meetings though but my life is in a weird shitty transitive state right now and will be for a couple years.

Though I guess if the "transitive" state is 2 fucking years its not really transitive is it? I need to get out of the house more. Someone call me a faggot and tell me to sign up for fencing classes please lol.

A Canadian monarchist youtuber recently inspired me to try and become more involved locally. I am especially guilty of endlessly doomposting on the canada is a failed state thread, but the least I can do irl is get more involved with my church and a some local political/non political orgs.
