Honestly I think this is the real crown jewel of the thielsphere as such. If you look at each of the figures, from hanania to BAP etc the mistake is to think of them as political characters instead of a kind of sphere of marketing and discourse. It's not about selling products to consumers so much as seeding a conceptual space that inculcates certain classes of person with an interest in the potential of such a project. Personally im deeply skeptical of the potential of such a thing to take off for spiritual reasons (the resentiment of bitter slave!) i guess, and also the dubious quality of the "elite human capital" (the excellent and beautiful!) susceptible to this schtick. Even though im not a techno optimist, I think that the current innovations and potential for new technics to reorganize our world are inevitable in a sense and we should ride the wave and keep an open heart to new possibilities beyond the 20th century realm of thought. On the other hand, I believe in America (go ahead and laugh) and as an American I believe that humanity is not just a mass of slaves to be tinkered with, but a garden of unanticipated and divine possibilities to be tended to and allowed to flourish (the pursuit of happiness).
