For anyone interested, but especially USA KIWIS, I just tested a way to get crypto (to then use to buy an account upgrade, or do whatever else you want with) without needing to go through an exchange:



Some might think this sounds very basic but for someone new to crypto like me it might help.

1. Get a kinguin gift card from game boost
2. Redeem it
3. Use the kinguin balance to buy a crypto voucher

Why Kinguin? Well the other site, enenba or whtevr, doesn't let you buy the crypto cards via your account balance.
On Kinguin there are 3 non-exchange options. Personally I used azteco because the redemption process is instant. The others make you sign up to their website, and IDK if they have kyc procedures.
4. Redeem it
In Azteco's case, all I had to do was open the link given by kinguin (the full link given is messy, I had to copy and the paste just the actual 'link' portion), which opened an azteco website with a qr code I scanned in my lightning btc wallet (running orbot)

Optional steps:
1. Use a VPN after step 1, unless your card doesn't usually block purchases made using a VPN. I used privacy (that thing josh recommended a while back. Btw josh, you noted once in a post that privacy didn't work on most sites, but these days I can use it for most things. Except notably - g2a , kinguin, eneba)

2. Use orbot and make sure crypto wallets are connecting through the onion network
3. Use whatever crypto you got to swap for xmr before using it to buy an account upgrade, if you're feeling especially spicy. However if you use a VPN past step 1 and use orbot when sending to the wallet address given when upgrading your account, at the very least, there aren't too many things connecting you.

Other tidbits:
Gameboost has some kinda shotgun kyc, it takes a few minutes for your order to be approved, and there's a non zero chance they ask for some kinda ID. Luckily, I didn't need to.
But keep that in mind if you decide to test this method out.

Remember that there's gonna be fees and cents lost through this process, so consider getting a 30usd voucher or higher - kinguin's cheapest voucher is $13ish us dollars.

With privacy I can put any name and address when I check out. If you're not using a similar payment option to buy the kinguin gc on gameboost, well, the government knows all anyway. At least they won't know WHAT you bought on kinguin. Maybe you used the gc to buy pragmata (despite Josh's issues with the game... it was kinda fun to play... I don't like the girl much tho. Or the English voice acting. It has a demo, and that demo ran well on my 2070 gtx laptop!)


Remember that as of now you can use btc, ltc, xmr, to upgrade your account using the btc pay server(those are the options you get when paying through the 'account upgrades' page), though if you had something else it's pretty easy to swap if you didn't wanna email josh about it. You can find services for swapping instantly on places like kycnotme . Personally I got the azteco lightning btc voucher for $13 for the purpose of this test. But I also encourage anyone interested to consider researching how you could get crypto peer to peer. whether that be using cash by mail or wise/other money transfer services.

Even though I set up billpay (getting my 'bank' to send a check to the Farms every month), I've felt stifled by the unfairness of EU kiwis getting to just zip some money to the glorious Finnish account, so I've kept looking for ways to get crypto in a way that doesn't require any humiliation rituals. It's kinda funny that I could buy dragon dillos or thousands in hardware without anyone blinking an eye, but I gotta wander around the internet to buy some funny money... Anyhow, I was pleasantly surprised when this method worked. it may not work forever. this gameboost site might be new, I only heard about it cause they sponsored a youtuber I was watching.
