This. Because its the same thing, just on a different scale. The individual should be expected their own mistake, but so should the system that created the problem that enabled it.

My own loans are (finally) paid, but I have no problem expecting the education system to stew in a mess of its own making, either. Its the bigger problem, so its my higher priority.

Agreed. I've had mine paid off for a while now, but it's retarded to blame a kid fresh out of highschool who was sold the lie their whole life that putting yourself in that debt is an automatic key to success when it isn't.

Really these colleges need to be brought to their knees. They take all this fucking money, and only make it more and more costly for Americans while putting funding into stupid shit that doesn't help the kids get out into the real world. They also let shit head foreigners in on our dime. Fuck them all.
 
I'm fighting the urge to be the grandpa shaking his fist at the sky, but the talk of student debt canceling pisses me off. I paid my own way (ending with 0 debt) and know people who went to the same school at the same time who have more debt STILL (after ten years) than I spent on the whole damn endeavor.
There are people who were tricked and then also people who took advantage of the loans counting on forgiveness.

Exactly. I was sold the same lie, and learned. Painfully. Now, I make a decent living as the part owner of my buddies business, and I've never had a job where my degree was relevant.

Why wouldn't I be more pissed at the people who keep selling the lie?

Edit: I should note, my first major was education. My dumb idealistic ass wanted to teach history. Being a straight white guy in a den of cunty vipers cured me of that. Changed major a couple times during those years. My own little existential crisis. :lol:

The Issue with college costs is largely because of Loans(as usual) and greedy mofos who exploit 17 year olds with dumbass degrees.

If drumf had any brains those would be the exact people and pipeline to attack, while encouraging kids to look into trade school, while telling AI-Slop-Tech-bros to chill the fuck out and stop offshoring.Alas, here we are.
