Chinese eunuchs were in general a rather fucked up bunch between the political scheming and medicinal quackery common among Chinese nobility. Considering how many emperors got mercury poisoning in their quest to creating an immortality serum, the prospect that a particularly crazed eunuch committed cannibalism as part of a revitalization ritual isn't completely absurd, or that somebody would accuse them of such out of disdain for them.

I love to rag on Wikipedia (just see my posts in this very thread), but Darger is lowkey an interesting figure, like if JRR Tolkien was a mentally ill janitor. He created a whole fantasy world for his own entertainment, and it reflected his personal struggles. I would cautiously recommend reading the article, he really is the epitome of an outsider artist. Guaranteed tomorrow's featured article is about abortion in Africa, but can't hate on Darger.

Well they seem to have another take, namely that he was ｌｅ　ｇａｙ　ｔｒａｎｓｇｅｎｄｅｒ, even though that term didn't even exist when he was born and he was so reclusive he probably never heard it in his life if it got invented while he was alive.

Personally, I think the simplest explanation is the correct one. He was a recluse who lived like a monk and probably never saw a human female naked, adult or otherwise.

In their defense this tab is ostensibly not agenda-driven and more about highlighting recently-added information that is interesting and of decent quality. Who knows why they pick what they pick, though, other than the fact that they are always recent additions.

Cohost, a short-lived failed Tumblr clone run by four incompetent pinko retards, was mentioned in the Bluesky thread as an example of how not to run an indie tech platform. Despite nothing of importance happening and no one of importance using the site, Wikipedia considered it significant enough to receive an article as some trusted source™️ online rags wrote fluff pieces about it. Here is Wikipedia's take on the brief life and death of the platform:

Hmm. That seems to be missing a lot of details. Neither the talk page nor the edit history contain any more information. Thankfully, the Farms monitored this dumpster fire as it burned and catalogued the true history of the site which I summarized here:

Putting it that way is too kind to Cohost. They were in such a good position compared to most indie tech projects and their fuckup was so self-inflicted that it still lives rent-free in my mind as the most retarded operating decision ever made by an indie tech team. What they did was:
  • 4 Tumblr retards came together to start a "tech worker co-op" where each member would have equal influence, ownership and pay. 2/4 of the members did not contribute to any tech work and only did design/platform moderation.
  • They design a blogging site named Cohost with the lofty goal of "no advertising, no algorithms and generous free features".
  • Somehow, these 4 retards managed to score a donation of $400 000 from a single "private donor".
  • Their first decision upon receiving the money is that they would all get paid $90 000 each annually to "match Big Tech compensation", leaving $40 000 for site operating expenses. This was despite the fact that some of the members hardly did any work, just a handful of hours a week, and blamed their laziness on "disability".
  • A tranny associate of Elliot Dong Gone swoops in and sweet-talks the 4 retards into abandoning Cloudflare, which was providing routing and network protection to their nophono site for free (as Cloudflare usually does in goodwill for small sites).
  • They switch to the tranny's employer Fastly, a Cloudflare competitor that hires a lot of trannies including Elliot's husband, signing an annual contract. However, the trannies were too jewish to show Cloudflare's goodwill to Cohost. The retards get hit with thousands of dollars in operating costs per month.
  • At this point, Cohost has no realistic plans for monetization at all. They only have a "premium" subscription that offered no practical benefits, and Tumblr users being a financially challenged, entitled, e-begging bunch, refuse to pay for social media.
  • The retards immediately start panicking and make doomsday posts about their financial situation, warning that Cohost would run out of money next month.
  • I recall that they had a successful donation drive once because of Tumblr staff pissing the userbase off about something and they briefly became the FOTM refugee camp, but that quickly dried up because of their incompetence and Fastly operating expenses. They try to beg the donor for more cash, but he is now unresponsive, probably furious that his money went down the toilet.
  • The retards shut it down, but not before making away with the $360K. They declare that they will not open source the website code as it is collateral for the donor.
Cohost was so stupid, it was almost smart enough to be a scam. Bluesky PBC (forgive my previous error of calling them a LLC) is nowhere close to this league of bizness mastery.
