Creepy Unsolved Mysteries - From unsolved murders to unidentified people to unexplained supernatural events, what are some of the creepiest unsolved mysteries you've ever heard of?

I read up on her case and I agree with you. There are three questions I have about her:

1. Why did she leave her child and her friend at their hotel to go to Edmonton? Some heavily downvoted posts on Reddit suggest she was getting drugs and/or turning tricks as Amber was known to do. The official Reddit-approved narrative is that she wanted to save money by hitchhiking ahead of her friend and her child, which makes no sense. Again this hitchhiking happened in the middle of the night, not during the day. I tried searching more about Amber’s proclivities and got a thoroughly scrubbed search tsk tsking me about stereotypes of indigenous women.

2. There was a call that was recorded where she was in a vehicle with an unidentified voice which may have been from the killer. The reason why this call was recorded is because she was talking to her brother who was in prison. Prison calls in Canada are recorded. Only one minute has been released out of 17. The RCMP hasn’t released the remaining 16 minutes and nobody seems to be keen to release those other minutes. So why was she talking to her brother in prison at night while she was in some random guy’s truck? Once again, none of the Reddit sleuths and troo crime advocates want to know more about this.

3. There’s a sex offender, Pat Carson, who keeps getting in trouble and owns a ranch near the area. The RCMP claims he has been repeatedly cleared. Nobody wants to provide a description of Carson which makes me wonder if he’s a First Nations guy. We are supposed to be scared of him but nobody can tell us anything about him.

I look forward to your post!
Yeah this all screams "don't talk about relevant details or it'll harm our sensibilities of injuns being wholesome chungus peace pipe smokers who sing kumbaya together and have a special kind of tranny"

She and the daughter both tried to say that he didn't burn the house down.....while ignoring that he burned TWO of their houses down, and neither of them acknowledged that it was more than one.
After he was killed and his widow tried suing the town is when her house was burned down. The whole area wanted her gone.

Sadly you are right considering there's at least one confirmed case of a shaved orangutan being used as a prostitute. I even heard one weirdo talking about how a female bigfoot had a crush on him. Bigfoot fuckers are 100% real.

Anyway, there's a lot of clamor right now about that Patterson-Gimlin bigfoot film due to the documentary Capturing Bigfoot. I always thought the footage looked fake. There was a documentary years ago where they reenacted it with an ape suit and showed you how it was totally possibly for a human to walk that way. As for the boobs on the suit apparently Patterson had sketched several breasted bigfoot figures in the past. Perhaps he thought if the bigfoot was female people would pay more attention and be less likely to think it's just some idiot in an ape suit.

It is a pretty good ape suit. But that doesn't mean it's probably a real bigfoot. Patterson may have just been that dedicated. If there are witnesses that attested to one or more test suits then he was definitely at it for years trying to perfect his craft. There was more than one suit and multiple tries with different crafters and materials if all those testimonies are to be believed. Plus the film is grainy and the ape suit does not have to look perfect. It just has to look enough like Bigfoot to make idiots believe.

I used to follow a youtube channel dedicated to Sasquatch. Despite people who have seen the new doc being adamant it proves the PG film is a hoax, they just weren't having it. The doc apparently even shows them rehearsing the whole thing.

This channel's take is that Patterson and Gimlin had gone to Bluff Creek intent on faking the footage when A REAL BIGFOOT came out of nowhere and they managed to get it on film!

Phenomenal stuff.

You must not have been here very long if you’re surprised that a lolyer says some stupid shit.
Hmm…going through the Canadian missing persons checklist:

✅ Missing in rural British Columbia
❌ Not First Nations
✅ Potentially last seen with an unknown white man
✅ RCMP bungles the case by initially not taking it seriously (do they ever take anything seriously?)
✅ Drugs or alcohol may or may not be involved
❓Tim Horton’s may or may not be involved
The more I read about this guy, the more it seems he might have been caught in foul play.

There's a case...Patricia Meehan. She apparently crashed and got out and disappeared. A camera was found and she took what could be one of the first selfies (not counting the 1800s ones)
Maura Murray, too, though her "selfie" was very grainy black & white CCTV footage of her depositing almost all her money from an ATM before crashing her car in NH and disappearing.

It's Wednesday, August 18th 2010 at approximately 8:00 pm, Amber Tuccaro is a 20 year old Mikisew Cree woman who is getting into an unknown man's car. Amber, her 14 month old son, and a woman known as Evangeline are staying at the Nisku Place Motel in Nisku, Alberta. It's a “budget friendly” motel that is essentially across from Edmonton International Airport with Alberta Highway 2 between them. There is no description of the man nor of his car that has ever been released to the public, but he is the last person who will ever see Amber alive.

Nisku Place.png

Amber is from Fort McMurray, Alberta. At the time it is an oil town. Amber is unemployed and living with her mother. She had known Evangeline for only a few weeks. Very little is known about Evangeline. She's not from Fort McMurray, she's older than Amber and she will go on to be arrested across Canada multiple times though the nature of the charges are not publicly known. For reasons unknown, Evangeline suggested that she, Amber and Amber's son travel to Edmonton for a short vacation and to go shopping. Each ticket would have been at least $700 ($727.30 USD adjusted for inflation and converted). This is a conservative estimate. The tickets had been purchased on short notice, it was summer when airfares peak, and the price of crude oil had turned Fort McMurray into a boom town often compared to Gold Rush era towns like Deadwood. It is flooding with rig pigs and tradesmen. The airport was and still is small and can only service smaller aircraft. Companies often bought up tickets en masse to transport their employees. It is unknown how Amber could afford her ticket.

The three arrived in Edmonton on the 17th of August, they checked into the Nisku Place Motel, and any further actions are unknown until Amber left her son with Evangeline and accepted a ride from the unknown man the following night. During the ride, Amber receives a 17-minute phone call from one of her brothers. He is incarcerated, so the call was recorded. Two years later, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police would release a 59-second clip of the 17-minute recording.

In the clip, Amber asks “where are we by?” and the man tells her that they are just “south of Beaumont”. He then corrects himself and says “north of Beaumont.” Amber persists asking “yo, where are we going?” and the man seems to tell her that they are taking back roads to 50th Street. She responds “are you fucking kidding me?” He says he is not. She follows up with “you better not take, you better not be taking me anywhere I don’t wanna go. I wanna go into the city, okay?” The man insists that they are driving to 50th Street. During the call Amber often seems to be repeating what the man tells her to her brother, and clearly does not believe him. Towards the end of the clip, the audio becomes distorted and the word “gravel” is heard being said by Amber and repeated by the man. The call then ends. Amber’s brother was seemingly unconcerned as he made no attempt to report the call to authorities.

There has been substantial confusion concerning this phone call. Amber likely wanted to go to Whyte Ave as that's where the bars and clubs were and still are. She is not asking to go to 50th Street. As Anthony Henday Drive, which encircles all of Edmonton today, would not be completed until 2023, the most logical way to get there would be to take Highway 2 north until it becomes Gateway Boulevard and then continue north to Whyte Ave. An inferior alternative would be to drive east to 50th Street and then take it north into the city. The driver likely lied to Amber and told her that construction or traffic made this the faster route. Traffic on Gateway got pretty bad at the time and still does. There is a large stretch between Nisku and Beaumont, where you would turn onto 50th Street, that is entirely farms.

Amber does not return to the motel that night. When she fails to return in the morning and does not contact Evangeline, Evangeline calls Amber's mom, Vivian. As Nisku is not part of Edmonton, it does not receive services from the Edmonton Police Service, but rather the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The RCMP tell Vivian that Amber is out partying and will eventually return. She persists and the RCMP open a missing persons file. Then then promptly close the file without looking for Amber. Vivian only finds out about this when she tries to follow up. They re-open the file, but they do not interview Evangeline, they did not interview a single person for four months, they wait weeks before retrieving Amber's belongings from the motel, they then throw them in the trash without informing her family, they seemingly don't attempt to track her phone with GPS or cell tower pings. The Civilian Review and Complaints Commission for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (CRCC) would later conclude that the investigation was “"deficient in that various members were either not properly trained or did not adhere to their training and that various members did not comply with procedures and guidelines."

It’s Saturday, September 1st 2012, a group of horseback riders are in a field in a rural part of Leduc County near Range Road 241 and Highway 623. This is east of Nisku and south of Beaumont. It takes approximately 17 minutes to drive there from the Nisku Place Motel. They find skeletal human remains. The remains are identified as those of Amber Tuccaro based on dental records. Three years later, Delores Browers’ skeletal remains are also found near Range Road 241. She had vanished 15 years earlier. The remains of Edna Bernard had been found in a wooded area on Range Road 245 in 2002 and the remains of Katie Ballentyne had been found in 2003 in a field near Range Road 235. That’s all four bodies within an 8 kilometre (5 mile) radius. All four women were indigenous and all four cases remain unsolved.

I read up on her case and I agree with you. There are three questions I have about her:

1. Why did she leave her child and her friend at their hotel to go to Edmonton? Some heavily downvoted posts on Reddit suggest she was getting drugs and/or turning tricks as Amber was known to do. Just posted it.

1. She wanted to get fucked up on Whyte Ave for sure. Everyone from 18 to like late 20s who goes to Edmonton from any small town hits Whyte Ave. If you’re every in Edmonton, check out Whyte when the bars close at 2 am on a Friday or Saturday. It’s like seeing Cops or To Serve and Protect live.

Going to Edmonton from Fort McMurray to hook makes absolutely no sense. She was a fat native chick who had a kid 14 months earlier. Girls like her work street corners in Edmonton and make like $30 a blowjob. And, those corners are taken. The girls are pretty fucking territorial. It’s better now but they used to be out fighting for their spots and flashing cars in broad daylight. So, not worth the airfare especially when there are dozens of drunk rig pigs in Fort Mac on any given night with oil money burning holes in their pockets. Those guys might be out working the oil patch for two months without even seeing a woman. They’ll pay to stick it in anything.

They were 100% in Edmonton to buy coke or meth and sell it in Fort Mac for like double what they paid for it.

2. Canadian jails and prisons have phone restrictions. Whenever my brother was locked up, he could only make calls between like 6 and 8 or 9 pm. And, the calls are always recorded. I was unable to confirm, but I have heard that her brother was in the remand centre in Edmonton, so he was probably getting out. You’re usually not in remand for very long. He might have called to make arrangements to see her, or to ask her for bail money. I think she repeats what the unknown man says to her because her brother was telling her that the guy was lying which he clearly was. Not sure why her brother didn’t alert anyone.

3. The dude on the recording has a white accent. Natives tend to sound native in rural Canada. My understanding is that Carson is a white dude who lures women to his ranch with promises of work and then forces himself on them. More coercion than forcible rape but its sexual assault none the less.

NGL, this area sounds kinda like the Texas Killing Field between Houston and Galveston

I have been to Leduc County many, many times. There's so many places to hide bodies. It's more forested than you might expect and some landowners leave their property as natural prairie for grazing or just because they don't care to plow it. It's almost all private property and most people respect that, so no one walks through those parts.

Ryan is 186 centimetres (6’1”) tall and weighs ~80 kilograms (180 lbs). He’s an athlete who drinks and parties regularly. He can take care of himself.

I want to weigh in on this one as a Canadian and a drunken retard. Zoom out on the map a bit and look at the surrounding area:
Screenshot_20260412_202137_Maps.jpg

It's all forested. It's entirely possible that he got wasted as fuck, had a few hoots and walked the wrong way. If he knew he was going to have to walk through a forest to get home alarm bells wouldn't go off in his head until he was good and lost.

Happened to me once. I left a house party to walk home in the dead of winter. I had to cross a field to get home, so I lit a doobie and put some tunes on. Turns out I made several wrong turns and crossed the wrong field. Only realized when the last song on the album ended and I wasn't home yet. Turns out I was two miles outside of town now and 40 minutes from home, completely underdressed for the weather.

So if he had a retard moment like that he easily could have gotten lost and died in an enormous forest never to be seen again. Canada just do be like that sometimes.

But what happened to his corpse? Or his clothes? He just disappeared. It’d be different if he fell in a ravine and then when the weather warmed up, they’d find his bloated corpse, even if it was ripped apart by animals, they’d find his clothes or bones somewhere. His text came through weeks later, which meant it was out of range for a while, then not.

In that dense brush a corpse doesn't last long. It's not impossible he walked out of signal range and then an animal carried his jacket or whatever elsewhere close enough to pick up signal. The biggest issue with this theory is that the phone had a charge weeks later.

But also in 2018 the cell networks here sucked and would double send/not send texts and I think I even had a case of a text being delivered way after I had sent it.

E: what if the text was not delivered until weeks later? Rural canada had issues modernizing and even until recently there were lots of 700mhz towers alongside higher freq ones.

Where two towers overlap things get strange especially if it's two different providers. Phones don't necessarily switch automatically, and will go into a No Signal state instead of switching bands.

Would it have been possible for the text to have been sent on a different band to a different provider's tower and only delivered when the recipient phone connected to that tower? I don't know enough to answer.

Bears don't eat cell phones. Plus he'd be nothing like bloated if he died on a ski hill in winter. Maybe his phone pinged a cell tower when a bear that just woke up uncovered his corpse.
Don't forget how hard it is to find people in wooded areas/parks/THE WILDERNESS. Death Valley Germans took forever, Geraldine Largay was supposedly within 100m of people searching for her on a few occasions.

I'm super skeptical of that, as flying in/out with narcotics is fairly risky for a variety of reasons. I'm inclined towards them being sex workers and she was going somewhere for a trick. Or Edmonton was a stopover while they were heading to some other place in Northern Alberta.

Calgary, Banff, and Fort Mac tended to have a pretty active sex trade operating out of motels. There was a small stretch of motels in Calgary that were notorious for that shit and only recently has most of it been bulldozed down. That they were staying at some motel right by the airport screams sex worker. I can't see 2 Native women, one of them with a child, being enterprising drug dealers or mules.

Given that they had money (with no reasonable explanation as to how they acquired it) and were staying at a motel near the Edmonton airport (very common with sex workers), this seems pretty clear to me, especially since RCMP won't comment, both girls having a criminal history, etc. I imagine if details were revealed about this Evangeline we'd get a litany of drug and prostitution charges.

The other women found in/around that area (Browers, Bernard, and Ballentyne) were all drug addicts and sex workers.

I'm somewhat skeptical that she happens to be the one exception.

Also, the remains of another sex worker, Corrie Ottenbreit, were found amongst Browers'. But since she was a white woman and this goes against the 'they're targeting Indigenous women and no one cares!' that detail is usually left out.

Thomas Svelka, who murdered another prostitute, is suspected in Browers and Ottenbreit's deaths, as well as in the murder of other women, is another person to consider.

Additionally, Bernard's murder seemed to deviate from the others, as her body had been lit on fire and discovered fairly quickly. My guess is that her murder is unrelated to the others. I imagine that there's similar stretches around most major populated areas in Canada over the course of like 15 years.

Yeah, because she named names. I'm going to assume she wasn't lying.

I read that she settled so that they didn't have to say the name.
Yooo what are Marcia Gay Harden and Cloris Leachman doing in it?!!! Beautiful. Iconic. Right around the time she did Miller's Crossing.

The cast is awesome.

Plus he'd be nothing like bloated if he died on a ski hill in winter.
And once the snow melted you'd have something like two weeks before all that's left is bones. The forest is one of the quickest places corpses decompose, it's why finding deer/big animal carcasses is so rare

Wrt that dead native lady in Edmonton, it used to be common to send drugs through the mail, or even better: greyhound cargo. They didn't look. Totally plausible she was going to send the drugs back to herself in fort mac

It’s interesting to me how Reddit sleuths don’t want to know certain details about these girls. The charges for Evangeline are sealed up tighter than a drum. Nobody seems to want to know about the other 16 minutes on this recorded phone call. I assume this information would tell the story pretty quickly about what is going on but it would run counter to the narrative. I tried searching more information about Amber on Google and got pages lecturing me on stereotypes of indigenous women. Seems like we’re just not supposed to know key details.

I did look up Katie Ballantyne and information was readily available that she sold herself for crack cocaine. But this happened several years prior before political correctness went into overdrive so I assume it was more acceptable to provide more information about her. For Amber it seemed like preserving The Narrative ™️ was the most important thing.

Because it goes against the idea of some dramatic narrative of a serial killer prowling Canadian highways.

Amber is just a sort of cause celebre so the signal to noise ratio with regards to bullshit and factual/credible information is pretty bad.

That said, I'm not sure the rest of that phone call is really showcasing anything. I doubt Amber or her brother would be talking about any criminal behavior, and the best we would get would be her parroting things the guy who was driving her was saying. The clips we got are probably the best quality available.

Oh, and you were wondering about Pat Carson?

The first link has a picture of him midways down. I'm skeptical he has anything to do with these murders. I imagine as a registered sex offender he'd likely be one of the first people the RCMP would be speaking to, particularly after the media attention Amber's story generated. I can guarantee that the people on reddit want it to be home so they could have another Robert Pickton to get all squeamish over.

Entirely possible, but I don't think it is probable. Someone of her means isn't going to schlep down to Edmonton like they're going out to the store. Drugs are readily available in Fort Mac, even if they are a little higher in price. She'd have to be buying a considerable amount to justify spending $700ish on a plane ticket and again, she didn't have the means and I can't see any serious drug players having anything to do with her to bankroll her.

There are plenty. What they want to ignore is the most successful serial killers stick to "low value" victims whose disappearances or deaths are not considered a high priority. It isn't that they're some kind of Hannibal Lecter geniuses. For instance Gary Ridgway the Green River Killer was one of the most prolific and had an IQ measured in the low 80s. He just had the sense to limit his victims and stick to the same m.o. that had always worked for him.

Drugs are readily available in Fort Mac
You could easily 10x your money selling to rig pigs. Because wages were so good a gram of weed was going for $40 or more. You could name your price if you snuck it into a work camp. Guys would literally blow an entire $3k paycheque on hookers and blow. That's not to say she wasn't also hooking, because I'm positive she was.
