Considering that Lewis' letter in this case didn't bother to mention any of the above much better reasons to grant a continuance, is it really any surprise that the judge got a little miffed at how disingenuous and suspect it was for the respondents to pretend like anything else was the reason they wasted his time and energy by kicking the can down the road since December?

There were only two before this. I don't anything about the first one. The one a year ago was better organized and better attended. It was still awful in most respects in the sense that everything in the dabbleverse is awful. But the people on the show were at least invested in trying to put on the event.
This year it really seemed like everyone was just going through the motions of putting it on and not really caring at all about it. It was kind of like they were committed to do it and they would do it. But with absolute minimum effort. There was no planning. There was nothing special about the event. There were no interactions or special content because everyone was together. The streaming shows just did what amounted to their normal weekly content in isolation.
And look at the sunday night show which was even worse. They didn't prepare anything. They didn't plan anything. They just ran videos of Aaron talking - mostly about them - and them not responding. And even when someone tried to do a bit or a joke, nobody on the panel helped out at all. Aside from Nick, I think the rest of the people up there just wanted to go home.

The judge seemed a bit miffed about progress. It sounds like defendants were representing progress was being made towards settlement only for the court to learn their lawyer has been incapacitated, no progress was made and they wanted to emergency cancel the settlement conference over an event they had been aware of for months. My reading of the letter was that the judge wasn't going to hold defendants responsible for their lawyers incompetence as long as they weren't going to be dicks.
But rekieta can't read social cues and instead of realizing the judge was giving them a pass, he went scorched earth with "I'll do what I want!"
