I think you basically answered your own question there. The last 35 years have been pretty elegant proof that European (and most American) elites don't give a squirt of piss if their own people are eliminated, as long as none of the chaos touches them. Their actions during that time demonstrate that they absolutely believe they can properly administer a "managed decline" to bring about the same old dumbass "world government" they've been thirsty for the last 100-plus years.

Countries have to get shit done. If Trump hadn't started another forever war in the middle east this wouldn't be a problem at all. And Europe wants nothing to do with it after we just got out of the last 2 middle eastern wars, where all we did was massively lose and fail to meet any objective from an already nebulous and non committal list.
Europe does not want to go war for Israel. It doesn't want to fight Iran based on some impossible plan of regime change, the same plan that has failed every time it's been tried in this century. At some point America needs to grow the fuck up and stop acting like they can win any war they go into. They have lost the last 3 because they're too stupid to understand basic things. Islamists will never turn on their own religion in favour of the west. Trying to cause a revolution or using "hearts and minds" is playing stupid games in a war zone. Either wipe them off the map or pack it in all together because people are sick of America doing this same stupid shit. When all it does is speed up the invasion of the West and get decent but naive men killed thinking they're fighting for something noble.
The US is bleeding allies because it keeps trying to start wars it cannot win. Then calling everyone who says "this is stupid, stop" an enemy. Instead of listening to them and not spending trillions of dollars on losing battles against camel jockies. Kill 'em all or pack it in already.

It's a sign of how much the Transatlantic alliance has grown apart, this isn't about being "allied" to Iran, it's more about going directly against US interests.
If you haven't heard, the United States has become deeply unpopular across much of Europe, even amongst the right wing in the aftermath of the Greenland crisis, and politicians across the continent as much to gain by "standing up" to America and prove that they should stop acting like vassal states in decades.

Why in the blue fuck should we be taking lectures from countries that are hell-bent on replacing their own populations with Third World brownoids? "America needs to grow the fuck up" is pretty rich coming from a continent that's been willing to turn a blind eye towards Iran's nuclear ambitions while enabling them to get around supposedly agreed-upon international sanctions. I wish it wouldn't have had to come to this myself, but the reality is that it's the result of the west's leaders, the US included, trying to kick the can down the road long enough that they wouldn't be in charge when Iran's running of the North Korea playbook finally paid off--at which point they would likely be doing the same shit they are now. "The strait is now ours, anyone resisting that risks getting nuked."
Maybe if the so-called fucking "grownups" had exercised some future-time orientation instead of marinating in their own naked short-term self-interests because it was the path of least resistance, we wouldn't be at this point in the first place.

A. We shouldn't try.
B. We shouldn't make sure they never get actual firepower.
