"attacks that seem to isolate Tehran from the rest of the country"

What if Bridge Day isn't bridge day, but air cover for some kind of planned ground action (around the Homo Straight or inland insurgents)? Trump has told us for decades that he firmly believes in strategic deception and now the Japanese Prime Minister knows too. But Bridge Day is the longest and straightest telegraphed punch in history. Very unlike Trump to let the enemy understand in advance Trump's plans to hit him.

The US Federal Government would have Iran believe two things rn: a) expect infrastructure bombings tonight if you don't come to terms and b) they've actively cooled talk of an imminent uprising with Trump openly bitching about the Kurds in recent days

What if the first is a distraction and the second was kayfabe? The West believes (a) and (b) so Iran believes it. But scheduled bombing strikes are also a good way to get your enemy leaders predictably concentrated in a few key locations (bunkers and command centers) and the electronic signals communication patterns of their activities in the build up to an expected air attack help track down their locations.

Prediction: the Pentagon, Mossad and Trump have something bigger planned for tonight if they don't comply. Watch the skies.
I was honestly thinking something similar to these lines. He usually isn't so boisterous about his plans. So 1 of 3 things are going to happen:
1) Infrastructure Bombing via power plants and bridges
2) He takes Kharg Island (he's said in the past he would take it if he were president)
3) Last minute deal with Iran cucking out (which doesn't seem like it's going to happen).

It might also be delayed, if it is, people will think he backed out. I'm just preparing for the unexpected.

Also I hope they find that leaker. That would've resulted in the guy getting killed, dangerous stuff.

Option 3 according Axios talks are in progress. We might get a Taco Tuesday.

>pakistan says mediation has ended
>talks are ongoing
>iran has said all communications with the US are halted
>iranian officials are talking with US officials behind the scenes, while publicly saying that they will never agree to a ceasefire and will fight to the last man

There's a reason why the acronym for "Bridge and Power Day" is BPD.

greta will don all black (with a red headband) and will be airdropped into iran tomorrow at 7am EST (3am in tehran) with nothing more than a suppressed 1911 and a ka-bar. she will open the strait singlehandedly. she's been undercover this whole time and soon this entire conflict will be over.

I don't live in US and I don't know how your system works so I'm curious. What would actually happen if Trump ordered or tried to order a nuclear strike against Iran in the current situation?
Would he have to get some kind of approval for the strike and/or would there be any other people who would have to agree with the strike for it to go through? Is there anyone who could veto the strike before it happens? I mean legally, I don't mean people refusing to execute his orders because of their morals etc.

The biggest miracle in my opinion is the fall of Syria which happened in a totally irrational way. There's no natural a ragtag militia of 10-30k that traveled in open convoys were able to destroy a regime that had multiple times their amount of troops. Russia completely gave up on protecting a core ally of theirs and didn't even bother striking convoys that would be easily destroyed. The Syrian regime collapsed in 11 days. Once Syria fell, Israel's "punishment" ended
I do really wonder how much bashar's syria downfall likely lead to the increased protests+increasing surveillance post 2024. Likely iranians saw that the regimes allies are doing fuck all to save an iranian ally from falling. And with the country going down the shittier, nows the time for change so they thought.

Congress has punted that ball at every given opportunity. As it stands I am reasonably certain that Trump is legally empowered to go full nuclear saturation bombardment if he felt like it.

The US has never had a no-first use. Anyone that denies the commander in chief's orders would be court marshaled. They'll do it unless there's a bunch of Milley's that'll try to do a coup and then it'll be civil war here.

No he does not need to get approval.

Yes it’s possible to refuse orders. It’s all dependent on the context though.

In this context, refusal is likely. Really we’d have to be in deep deep tension with another nuclear power to not get resistance. Even that’s not a guarantee.
