if you mean the wider sentiment of people not seeing the operation as a success rather than just the left who would want failure even in a justified conflict on our part, then it is because entering this war was the failure. even the "optimal" outcome of a relatively casualty lite and low cost war would still just mean a rival to the country blackmailing ours being taken out allowing israel one more step closer to being able to discard and ruin us, and towards another needless war with turkey next to further solidify their control and take us out the picture.

I think Trump would have gotten so much more respect if he would have just had a state of the union and said "Look, we want the straight of Hormuz. There's a ton of reasons financially and strategically and beneficial to America if we can either get Iran to play ball or install somebody who will." but you and I both know that even though that's what's good for this country in the long run, nobody's going to go for that.

trump sending the supplies to save them even if he knew theyd be lost is a good decision, it is a much better decision than any other he had at that point, his mistake was far earlier in starting the war in the first place for no reason. he didnt plan well. rescuing pilot = good, putting the pilot in the situation (unless theyre jewish then fuck em) in the first place = bad. therefore the loss of the equipment is an indictment of his earlier shit decision even if the sending of it was the best he could do in the present.
