Trump's gonna open the gate himself if he has to. The longer Hormuz is closed, the more it hurts Iran's allies. We don't need Middle East oil anymore so keep it closed, it doesn't bother us.
 
I'm sorry if this has been beaten to death but this thread moves fast. I just wanted to give my 2 cents as a guy who still remembers filling out his paperwork that they hand to the pjs (pararescue) team to verify your identity in the event you end up in a situation like this pilot. Now I wasn't at nearly as high of a risk of this as a pilot but it brings me great joy to see on full display the ideological disconnect publicly preserved on the record.

In war civilians die and there's really no workaround for this problem though it's obviously much less of an issue then it was in early bombing wars like WWII where we would just level cities to destroy factory production. The key is the intent and the reaction. Despite what counterintel Wu Mao types and commie faggots believe there is a very strong reluctance to harm innocent people. As an example from a Tac P friend when he was calling in air support he would literally have in his words "Command in one ear and JAG in the other if there was any target sensitivity" He explained to me that there needed to be a real time signoff for Mosques (which are every block) and many other targets during an active firefight. Our enemies aim at the churches.

It's the same shit with this pilot. Oh some planes got stuck in the sand? That sucks I'm glad we got our boy out. We have pararescue which are just top tier badasses whos entire job is to get you out of a bad situation. Our pilots drop with guns, food, money, beacons and their only job is to hang out until we drop in people who's entire job is to kill everyone in the way of saving your fucking ass. As someone who had friends go through that pipeline you're talking about 18 months to 2 years just in training with a very high washout rate and casual things like watercon where they repeatedly drown you.

People die in war, it's going to happen but we aren't fucking Russia we aren't marching people across fields as drones kill them. I knew if the worst happen and the FOB got overrun that there would be a rapid response team, air support, and worst case special forces that would be deployed to save my dumbass. That brought me legitimate comfort when I was put in situations that were difficult, and to be clear I'm not some door kicking special forces operator badass. Obviously I was armed but my primary weapon on a day to day basis was a socket set.

So when you see people complaining about equipment losses to save a pilot and "risking" special forces guys who literally exist to do this job... Remember that their third worlders with shit covered hands who literally can't understand the idea that we go back for our people. They are so stupid they will admit this openly and proudly and scoff that a machine broke to save an American. This is because they are worse less then machines and they understand and even agree with that.

A military with soldiers able to put their faith in their brothers in arms is a powerful thing. It's large part of why American soldiers have a reputation for being able to operate well in chaotic environments.

Their logistics are so poor that the machinery is literally worth more than their lives, so equipment losses actually are used to measure attack success.

They can't comprehend that the US can practice No One Left Behind because it would bankrupt their country to do that. They rationalize it as the warriors task is to give their lives for their country, so why should they take measures to ensure their safety?

President Trump told Axios the U.S. initially worried that a message from the stranded crew member of an F-15 downed by Iran was a trick by the Iranians to lure U.S. forces into a trap.

The big picture: The crew member survived more than 24 hours in the mountains despite being wounded, before being rescued in a special forces operation on Saturday.

Around 200 soldiers from special operations units participated in the operation, Trump said.
Trump said the Iranian military shot down the F-15 using a shoulder-fired missile. "They got lucky."
Speaking to Axios hours after confirming the rescue, Trump said that "thousands of these savages were hunting him down," using that loaded term to refer to members of the Iranian military. "Even the population was looking for him. They offered people a bonus if they captured him."
Driving the news: The officer hid in a crevice in the mountain, Trump said, and the U.S. managed to spot him with its technology.

Trump said that the U.S. military had "beeping information" about the officer's location. But after a radio message, officials suspected he might be in Iranian captivity and the Iranians were "sending false signals" to try to lure U.S. forces into a trap.
Behind the scenes: Trump said the weapons system officer gave a short, unusual message over his radio after ejecting from the aircraft. "He said: 'Power be to God.'"

A U.S. defense official confirmed Trump's account but said the exact phrase was "God is good."
Defense Secretary Hegseth used the phrase "God is good" in an X post Sunday morning.
Zoom in: "What he said on the radio sounded like something a Muslim would say," Trump said.

People who knew the officer explained he was a religious person, and it made sense for him to say that, Trump added.
The defense official confirmed that account. "It was not completely clear early on, but we stuck with it and verified he was alive and not captured. And those who knew him said he is religious," the official said.
The President noted that the pilot was rescued much more quickly, in daylight, under heavy fire from the Iranians.

A U.S. defense official called the first operation Friday "a bold and quick snatch" in daylight while the second was done at night after establishing a temporary base inside Iran.
"The two crew members were spread apart by a couple miles. Hundreds of IRGC soldiers were everywhere," the defense official said.
Of note: Trump said the IDF helped the U.S. military "a little bit" during the search and rescue of both crew members.

A U.S. defense official said the Israelis did not provide any information about the location of the weapons system officer, but shared intelligence about the general situation on the ground.
The Israeli Air Force conducted one strike to prevent Iranian forces from reaching the area, Israeli officials said.
"They have been good partners. They have been great and brave people. We are like a big brother and little brother," Trump said.
