this all sounds like sour grapes because you're not smart enough for college
Well, as someone who dropped out of engineering college, I outearn every single person I know that graduated, including guys I went to engineering college with. I have had fresh out of college engineering grads working under me for a solid 50k less a year, just because they couldn't find any work outside of construction.
How smart is it to waste 4 years of your prime and rack of six figures of debt if you are going to end up working for a college dropout anyways?
The "just do trades bro" arguments are stupidly naive at best and downright disingenuous at worst because those reasons. You can find a successful career in blue collar work still, but it's increasingly like any white collar work for a lot of regions: either you get lucky, engage in nepotism, or find that one rural town which somehow still lacks a plumber or electrician. Apprenticeships are damn near impossible to get for certain fields, you will be competing against foreigners undercutting you at every opportunity, and the unions will only take you if you have friends or family already members (and even then it can be a crap shoot). It's not the easy path to riches it was 10-15 years ago.
Market expansion is only half the solution to this problem, the other half is gutting any form of immigration and visa program to remove wage depression. I'd also tack on liquidating the boomers in totality just out of spite (and to start freeing up the housing market), but one step at a time.
It's workable advice, but incomplete. If you can't get into a union and end up going "rat" like I did, then you absolutely need to push to get some industry certifications and work your way into a position that matters. Almost all of these certs require a comprehensive understanding of English, which immediately gives you a leg up over Paco, Akmed, and Tyrone, and the tests to get them are usually hard as fuck, which also weeds out the idiots. Inspector jobs in particular are what I highly advise White men to pursue, since they are usually more comfortable, well paid, in demand, and hard for browns to compete in because they are stupid and do not understand English.
You shouldn't go into the trades thinking you will just do your twenty as a journeyman in the union, or become a master X and start a business, because that is increasingly a dead dream for most people due to mass immigraton. You should go into the trades to get the 3-5 year industry experience necessary to go for higher level certifications, and just eat some shit for a few years while you try not to let a retarded brown kill you due to negligence. At least, that is my personal opinion as someone in the trades. Nothing wrong with grunt work, those guys are needed, but unless you move states AND get lucky, you'll probably make hourly wages on par with Hobby Lobby and live off of your overtime and per diem more than anything.
