The problem with social media society is things are top of the news for a week, then the next thing. It's exhausting. Obviously the war stuff takes priority over everything for now but it's like nobody can multitask anymore, least of all congress.

Well realistically I don't think there's any 'good' paths for Trump in the midterms barring a rapid economic turnaround, just less bad ones. And the least bad one I can see is a 2022 election scenario where the projected opposition wave turns out pretty disappointing.

The save act is just one prong of many. Several states are already enacting similar legislation, and there's a lot more ground work being done in different states to weed out fraud. I wouldn't be surprised if ICE is keeping an eye out for places where illegals play a hand in the fraud.

I was unaware of local state SAVES. This is great news! Do you have a list of them or even know at least some of them? Same for the fraud investigations.

I try to keep a long-term view of results. For all the shifts in-and-out of hope/doom - it's stuff like this, closing the border, negative net immigration for the first time in a half-century, ICE deportations making a public show of little tolerance for illegal immigration, White births actually rising against non-Whites for the first time in ages, etc. that gradually compounds into a positive whole and is clear in retrospect. I like to think Bismarck's quote rings true yet for the American people.

Roman soldiers during the days of the Empire were apparently expected to spend 20 years in the service and 5 in the reserve. After retiring they would get land then later on, starting with the reign of Augustus, they got 12 years worth of pay upon being discharged and later into the Empire's existence, auxiliary soldiers — non-citizens who fought alongside the legions — received Roman citizenship upon completion of their service.

The United States used to have a military bounty land warrant system but that ceased to exist in the mid 1800s. In return for service, bounty land could have been claimed by veterans or their heirs.
