There's all sorts of reasons why Newsome's twitter posts have gone quiet, all of them funny, none of them good for him. He's illiterate (not a joke), so he has a "team" handling it for him. So ...

1) they're demoralized and have given up hope they can defeat Orange Man Bad™ with snarky twitter posts;
2) the checks didn't clear (the dems are broke, after all, and entirely reliant on ongoing grifts to keep the cash flowing; the feds are doing gangbusters cutting off lots of spigots);
3) they're running Kamala again so Newsome's been deprioritized;
4) somebody somehow finally got through to that dipshit and his team of handlers that his "social media management team" are fucking retards, are doing a piss-poor job, are making him look worse than he already did previously somehow, and should be silenced/fired

I was going to rank these in order of most- to least-likely, but I can't quite figure out what that would look like (they all seem feasible to me), so I just wrote them down as I thought of them.

Really though, the thought of his "sassy twitter team" just saying "fuck it, we give up, we can't salvage this" cracks me up. Same for them saying "we'd love to help but sorry, you haven't paid us for last month and we've got HIV meds to pay for." Along with "Kween Kamala told us to stop, yo." And finally the "oh ... [silent head drop]" following being flatly told "you're doing a shit job, stop it, you're fired" I'm picturing makes me giggle too.

Like I said ... every possibility is funny. :story:
As we get closer to the 2026 midterms, all the candidate are going to pretend they totally aren't running
Because no one wants to be accused of sucking all of the oxygen out of the room for self-aggrandizement.

If its a blue wave - it won't be because of a primary hopeful.
If its a red wave - spending all of Autumn stumping for yourself makes you look out of touch and foolish

No matter what the midterm outcomes, as soon as we hit November 2026, Gavin's going to start campaigning hard again.
Such cringe.

I prefer the more simple theory. There’s just no money in space right now. People won’t move a muscle if they can’t make a profit off of space.
Moving all manufacturing off planet would be a great way to save the environment. Plus manufacturing becomes easier in low gravity environments where you can outright control the atmosphere. Anyone with foresight would realize that industrializing the moon would make you incredibly rich

The moon is full of H3
You're probably thinking of green cheese.

In all seriousness, though, you're thinking of helium 3, not tritium. There's no existing application for He-3 that would justify getting it from the Moon and there's no existing process for getting it. Claims that it provides an economic justification for lunar activity is wishful thinking balanced on the nose of exaggeration riding the unicycle of ignorance.

The only plausible medium term economic justification for going to the moon involves creating an absolutely massive amount of infrastructure there to refine raw materials and send them into Earth orbit via mass drivers for orbital manufacturing. That would require a lot of engineering but it's at least built around well understood physical processes and doesn't require any "and then a miracle happens" steps, let alone two or three.

We only went to the moon as a middle finger to the USSR. The USSR stopped existing in the 90’s, so there was no political advantage to continue the program.
People always forget that the space race was just a very petty pissing contest
