It's not just America. Most of the world shares the same distaste of reading.

And the love of reading itself was a recent phenomenon, when it comes to history. A century or two before us, and most people would think book-readers are wasting their time. They see book-readers the same way you spoke of gamers. The only exceptions were scholars and priests, but even they were seen as lesser men compared to their more athletic compatriots.

And God help you if you're a woman who likes books back then. If you weren't religious, a woman reading books was seen as leading herself astray, when she should be minding chores in the house or raising kids.

Even parts of the world which don't face goyslop distractions have it. And most people thought reading books was a waste of time a century or two ago. They left that job to scholars and priests. They saw books the same way you see video games.

This goes double when literacy did start to bump up, and you had movements like the Enlightenment and the French Revolution, which made conservative traditionalists grow more sour with the literary class, when said class influenced the city folk to lop off the heads of kings and priests. At that point, they went from "book readers are wasting time" to "book readers are leading people astray". They'd even ban certain books for having subversive content.

There should be a game that takes place during the Salem Witch trials.

Maybe a Phoenix Wright game DLC that sees the cast reincarnated as Puritans.

Hell, I was just playing Witcher 3, a game where the North, ruled by Redania, has witch hunters hounding not only sorcerers, but also simple herbalists and local soothsayers, and their king closed down the Oxenfurt University to clamp down on dissent.

Anything that requires a creative vision and that can inspire feelings in people is art.

When I first played SotC as a wee hedgehog, I remember reaching a point in the game where I simple sat down the controller and stared at the screen. Here I was, a snot-nosed middle schooler, sitting in my living room and asking myself why I was hurting something so beautiful and innocent just because I wanted something, because I was told to do it. How is that any less real than feeling that way because I read something in a book, or looked at it on a wall?

Just because CoD exists doesn't mean games can't be art just like how porn existing doesn't mean movies can't be art. Most arguments about the topic boil down to people who think art is for smart people and video games are for stupid people and they're smart so video games are dumb.

My own current unpopular opinion is that current video game discorse and community fucking sucks and as a foid is somehow even worse than when I was a kid. My choices are soygoy who think attractive women are satan and suck tranny cock or people who will go on a three page schizo rant about how women have never been useful for anything ever and so much as having one in a game makes it woke.

There's a middle ground between "they shouldn't make face scans uglier on purpose and fill games with ugly niggers" and "I won't play your game because it has a mildly unattractive normal looking woman in it."

That's how I've always felt about it. I think it's bullshit they can ask a panel of women to design Leon to be the sexiest man physically possible whilst making Clair look chopped, but I don't inherently have an issue with normal or unattractive characters existing.
