Vell, zere go ahr tvelve pointz.
those go to either turkey or isreal.

I looked at the previous video about this and there were... only a tiny handful of 'hey this isn't what I'm here for' comments, only one of which I would classify as being anything but very polite.
youtube probably filters lot of shit, who knows what has been said in DMs on discord or mail. or it's the meaning and not so much the language, who knows.
anyway, getting outraged someone doesn't only do retro pc anymore is a bit much - even if I can somewhat understand it since I don't really care about the laboratory stuff either. we gonna have to wait and see how much he sticks with it, especially when the enthusiasm tapers off (like with the nova) and/or the frustration sets in not getting results.

not too worried, for now just a week I can skip or have running in the background...

The justification of being able to do analytical work on magnetic storage media of yore is also interesting but I don't see how it could get better results or even faster/cheaper/(way) less time investment than sending samples off to a real analytical lab.
don't think time or effectiveness is a big point when it comes to retro computing or getting stuff running like it's the mid-eighties. my guess he'll try to make it work and then it either does at some point or not, after that it can still be analyzed with modern tools if needed.

I do like his stuff but going out of your way - twice, I reiterate - to get performative about an almost completely inoffensive film isn't keeping politics out of it. He could've just... not shown the disc.
The Synth community is even more overly infested with troons than even video games. So theres a lot of kowtowing, even for an English man. Walter/Wendy Carlos is ground zero for troons in mass media.

What the fuck are you talking about? Tech Tangents isn't English.

Mr. Lookmum certainly is and I think that's what you're talking about but there were two topics in there. And you're broadly correct. Though it's interesting to me troons don't bring up Carlos more.

At least Carlos was actually talented and tended to keep to himself. Most just assumed he was a very unfortunate looking woman.
Except for when Carlos got so butthurt over a guy writing a song about him, he took him to court, it was about Carlos building a time machine to meet up with his tranny self and fuck or something

Nothing interesting really, except he talked about an upcoming vacuum tube video. That brings us to everyone's favorite game: real-woman or tranny?

I saw them with my own two eyes paperclip the other G-15.

...okay it was a misplaced connector shell but the flash was really big.

He shows the construction half way though. We don't see him filling up the hoarder den yet. Curious how much crap he'll have once he clears out all his storage.
That building looks so shoddy, that even hanging a ceiling fan will twist and mangle the rafters.

The metal studs look no better quality than standard non load bearing metal studs and they are set a 5' intervals. Conventional stud spacing is 16 inches. The next hurricane or severe thunderstorm with 70 mph winds, the building will become airborne or a hunk of twisted metal.

Its the kind of building you throw a tractor or a car in. Something that can already withstand being outdoors.

As soon as he tries to put up the paneling he'll instantly know his mistake as the building he bought is too chintzy to become a finished working space.

LGR Built a warehouse.

All of the nostalgia tech guys are hoarders, but LGR is the worst at hiding it. He'll run out of space in that warehouse in just a few years, even if the channel dies. He's still got Gaza level trauma from the hurricane and will do zero curation of his shit.

The enablers in the comments are really something else. He's definitely curating these!

"You are a good person for building a warehouse to store your collection of sealed copies of Quickbooks."

He says in the video that his original idea was for a building less than half as large and doesn't share his budget. Whatever he blew on this glorified shed might have gone into something smaller but more robust and less of an eyesore, but if he did that then he might be pressured to convert or tear it down to build something not retarded, like a guest cottage. Now the property is literally weighed down with that foundation.

Can anyone tell me why a building made to hold small boxes needs a huge door built to accommodate semis?

Wait until the video when he moved everything in and that will be apparent. I anticipate no less than 6 truck loads, and I'm talking about either full bed pickups or a mid-sized (U-Haul/Ryder) box trucks.

That's a good point. He's got like 10-20 CRTs, no way he's going to lug those through a regular door and across a warehouse one by one. And didn't he buy an obsolete mainframe at some point, or was that another retro guy?

99% of that stuff has been forgotten in a hoard longer than it was technologically relevant, much less actually enjoyed

When they start dying off hopefully it'll be its own Computer Reset 2 moment in terms of recovery/diamond mining

Agreed. Even though Clint is doing his best to look like Neil from RMC, there's no way he's opening an LGR Cave any time soon.

You could be thinking of Usagi Electric.
