Edit: from what I've seen it seems the "Pang Sang" in his name probably got him made fun of a lot as a kid (I guess that's a funny name in Singapore), I wonder if that made him the man he is today.

I cant remember which dialect it is, but "Pang Sai" means to take a shit and not even in a mean way. Parents would be like "boy, today you pang sai already??" for example (not in a malicious way even, just parental care) , so Pang Sang is a horrible name that his parents gave him lmfao

There are many documentaries on Youtube which show off the inside of Changi prison now. It's definitely updated from slowly dying and you aren't so likely to get knifed by an inmate, but it's still not much fun.

As far as I've seen personally Asian parents come in two flavors. The "Are you doctor yet?" which involves relentless studies and micro management of the child's life even well into adulthood and the we don't care because we're cripplingly addicted to gambling kind.
The second isn't completely neglectful so much as they're way too hands off and the kid can just do what they want.
