I think there's only a chance of boots on Kharg, and I unironically think that would be one of the greatest American wins of all time, because of how valuable the Strait is. If we control the production on Kharg, and we control the Strait of America, we suddenly have control of a big ol' chunk of China's oil, and the rest of the world's goods. Seizing Kharg Island, at least for me, is not really what I think of when saying no boots on the ground. Even if we sent guys in to kill someone or sabotage something and leave, that's not really what I ever meant by boots on the ground.

I've always said that Kharg would be an incredible gain. It is impossible to argue that it's not. Like, I really do think this, and have since the start. My actual criteria for a complete and total victory was for the Strait of America to exist, and that includes Kharg as a port and refining facility for arab oil from our allies there. People have mentioned it in the Iran thread, but a huge percentage of the world's fertilizer comes through the Strait as well, and it would be ours to own forever. I am an American Imperialist, and I am not sorry that I think America should hold the world by the balls and demand tribute.

You have to imagine there's a lot more going into working out how these things fly (as in how they control, not 'how drone fly'), what they can do, and that we care a whole lot more about using them as guided bombs, which is why they have the full GPS navigation system vs the limited nav for Shaheds.
Yes it definitely does. It would still be nice to have more explosive since these things exist purely to go boom, but the US using a shaped charge likely means that you get more bang for your buck when it comes to pound for pound explosive material. Shaped charges can really do a lot of heavy lifting that you would expect higher-explosive needs for.
i meant it more as a general comment than as a direct reply to the scenario you were mentioning. with that being said, and i do agree that kharg island would be beneficial for us, personally i would view any ground force deployment as a betrayal of promise. by ground force deployment i mean actually deploying regular military forces to achieve a goal on foot. i don't really consider sending in a seal team to whack someone or skyhooking the new towelhead in charge (would be funny imo) as a ground force deployment since it would be more of a special forces kind of action.
