Ive said it before and it garners nothing but hate but there is no such thing as ground penetrating munitions, it defies the laws of physics, if you place a U pipe upside down with nothing on either side and put a few feet of dirt on top for testing purposes sure the fuckers can slam through that short lttle area by using pressure to push the dirt out ot the way.


in real life when the whole ground is reinforced in a 360 degree direction and the earth is not measured in inches but tens of feet your just throwing a bomb very hard at the dirt and then hoping the explosion that happens when it hits the dirt has enough concusive force to destabilize the much deeper "bunker" or whatever it is below

Iran has fucked with us for decades. Also, quite a few of the thread regulars here before this shit popped off are veterans of GWOT, and have some personal bones to pick with the Ayatollah and Iran. More broadly, there are entire happening threads going back years here outlining all the bullshit Iran has gotten up too over the years.

Much of the "Israel is our greatest Ally" posting is ironic. But there is something refreshing about watching the USA fight a war with an Ally who is actually able to carry its own weight rather then a bunch of "Glad to be here" moral support. More importantly though, the Israelis were correct about the need to prevent Iran from expanding its ballistic missile program and getting nuclear devices to mount on them. Iran was already blackmailing the region with convenional arms. If they had gotten nukes shit would have gotten worse.

Also, its just nice to remind the world why they need to be afraid of the American Empire now and then. Last few years it seems everyone had forgotten.

my genuine take is we bombed all the easy to bomb above ground faciltys and realized they have shit in the mountains we cant even HOPE to get to.

Its called target depletion and its a recurring problem with air campaigns dating back to WW2. We bombed everything of value in the Vietnam War and it became such a farce that we were just bombing "trees in contact" to former factories and infrastructure in North Vietnam. Yet Vietnam kept increasing weapon production the entire war and was becoming more formidable over time. The suicide drones are so simple to make that it can be done on an improvisation garage level dispersed through society, its literally impossible to stop the manufacturing of them and there isn't even the slightest hint of interdicting trade with countries to the east of Iran which will be funneling military goods to them. Nobody in this thread has even remotely considered the consequences of this continuing long term and Russia just ratcheting production up even further since they're at a point where they don't have much to hit with their drones and sending them via the 'Stans to Iran.

The end state here is going to watch Iran fling suicide drones into the gulf state energy infrastructure and keep Hormuz close indefinitely while Trump and co just declare victory and try burying the lede in the news headlines while energy prices soar over time. Trump couldn't stop the houthis at the Al-bab strait which has led to a 50% reduction in Suez traffic and he wont be able to stop Iran from pulverizing the gulf states in perpetuity with these cheap fucking drones.
