Even if this is the start of a new "forever" war in the combat sandbox of the world, it does no good to try and hold anyone, Trump or otherwise, to the "Ending forever wars and putting America First" agenda that was thematic of his campaign and how this appears to potentially fly in direct opposition of it.
The mental checkmate game played here was framing this as actually putting America first by protecting its long term interests for oil, and weakening China. Those ARE valid arguments and there's little logical rebuttal since having a despotic, theocratic mad man with nukes controlling one of the worlds most strategic waterways is a terrible situation for everyone. This gives the leverage to claim anyone who's against this must obviously not care about America's long term interests and therefore is a communist faggot pedophile. (Because you must be in a binary classification to participate here)
Most people aren't bloodthirsty for war and despise this action. Select posters here will edgelord post otherwise, but generally I feel like the vast majority of Americans don't really want to spend 100's of millions on bombing more brown people again.
