There are some other reasons, but it stems from the Oppression Olympics and gamergate. Thanks to Brianna Wu and Zoe Quinn, the SJWs view the Video game industry as one that needs equality forced down it's throat. So attention whores become "video game developers" and bitch about how hard they have it for asspats and money.

Autism.
Autism is more common in trannies than the rest of the population. It's also more common in (adult) vidya obsessives than the rest of the population. People really want to believe that this is all some bizarre quirk of the moment. It's not - when modern society and autism combine, it almost always creates one of a few archetypes, trans video game developer is one of them. It sounds like we're making fun but this is a real thing that is happening.

In the first, lol hell no, that's not how torts work at all. The second, also lol hell no. In addition, insanity plea inst get out of jail free, its "go to jail until the police decide you aren't crazy anymore" which means you can go to jail FOREVER on what should be a 5 year sentance.

Also, two people with the same set of circumstances can get a very different response from the police based on their presentation and articulation of the facts. On one hand you can have someone who collects evidence, calls ahead to make an appointment with the proper person (investigative vs regular beat cop, for example), and calmly explains how they believe they have been legally wronged (it doesn't help to look at some statutes before you go). If that fails you can then make a call to your local prosecutor\victim's advocates. That said, even in this case if the threats are all anonymous emails from burner accounts you might not have much luck. But at least the police will be sympathetic.
OR you could walk into the police station, start ranting about cis-gendered transphobic haters, complain that everyone is against you, and yell that you pay the desk officer's salary and he needs to serve and protect the shit out of you or you'll have his badge. Then upon being tossed out for being a useless headache, you go and make threats to kill specific people that can immediately be tied back to you because... reasons.
Let's guess which approach Alex took.

No chance in hell.
Even though it looks like YouTube is going to reverse the invalid DMCA strikes if they haven't already, and sounds to me like Alex's family have pulled an intervention on it's retarded troony ass, as Sid himself said the legal troubles it's let itself in for by being so antagonistic to it's former employer and taking shots as far up the ladder as Turner Broadcasting are still pending.
I imagine the death threats are going to be politely forgotten however, unless the intervention fails and it starts REEEEEEing about 'CIS scum' and 'I want French and SidAlpha's addresses so I can totally kill them' all over again. Then I think the hammer will fall down hard this time.

Oh, it totally came off like a psychotic breakdown. Best case scenario, this serves as a wake-up call for Alex and he gets some help. Maybe he actually is transgender, and that exacerbated his mental state, seeing as how he was trying to gouge money for SRS.
But there's also the very real possibility that something unfortunate could happen that would cause Alex to have a relapse and fall back into a pattern of self-destruction. Alex definitely needs some professional help and counseling, and not just for gender issues and how to deal with all that.

On one hand, kinda disappointed that we might be coming to the end of this delicious loltrain, but on the other hand, it did seem like Mauer was going through a genuine psychotic break and it's nice that there were some people that had enough leeway to get him the help he fucking needed. God knows Chris could have used some of that before he turned into whatever weird ass manifestation of autism and tranny he is now.
(But on the other other hand, I have a sinking feeling that the guy is just completely fucking retarded and we're gonna be hearing more about this autismfest next week.)

Agreed. His actions did not come off like of someone capable of making rational decisions, and ideally, I'd rather see him not go completely insane. Granted, his meltdown was hilarious, but if this was a genuine mental break and not just a deranged temper tantrum, I'd like to see this guy get help.
If he still does crazy stuff even after he gets stabilized, he's still a lolcow and worth laughing at, but if he can keep from going round the twist after he gets some help, that's fine by me as well.

ugh..hi, my name's shawn phase. ive known alex for almost 20 years, i play drums in alex's live performances for the past, well i dont know how many years now. many years. i can play everything alex has written pretty much. ive also made two remix albums of alex's songs over the years. i really didnt want to make an account and post, but i gotta say that the way you guys are talking about my friend, one of my best friends, is pretty reptilian. the ones closest to her, like me, have tried to do everything in our power to help her. ive read this thread since about page 6 and seriously, close the thread or something. give it a rest. this situation is a nightmare for people like us who have known alex for a long time or are close to both sides, or friends with alex or any of the people who run the affected channels too. im feeling octofucked here and i keep coming back to this thread fighting making an account, well poof, here i am..
im pretty good friends with don of imagos, and ive endlessly talked to him and alex throughout this entire ordeal for months, trying to help them come to a resolution, any resolution. this spiraled out of control in ways i feared it could, but what you might not know of alex is how much of a pioneer she is to the whole chiptune scene. whatever happens here, let her have a little dignity. theres more going on with alex than i could ever get into anywhere with anyone, but shes helped me to become a musician as well as person i always tried to be. what she writes isnt easy to play. you gotta have a strictness for that and that applies to who you are as a person, its also what this entire thing is about regardless of how you feel about it. because of her, i was able to play music written by one of my top favorite composers of all for starr mazer. ive had other musical colleagues do bad things and wind up in jail, or worse, far worse, and i see them through what happens. alex is no different.
alex's music has had a big impact on an entire scene, as well as myself. but its one that people like her and i were the first generation of. people like virt who did the music from shovel knight, as well as bogdan from rephlex records. people like her really are one in a million where these haters are one in ten. anything you guys wanna say for laffs wont change the positive influence she's had on people, and i think that will win out in the end. that is all i can say really.
