🌟 Internet Famous Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

Most people are not going to need high spec cables, so the only way to get a huge market for them is to either have an addressable niche market (which arguably LTT has and can access really easily because they have computer enthusiast viewers who are fags and niggers) OR to just scam people and tell them the super quad HD power cable that is made of pure chinesium copper coated in ancient bat oil will get them 72 virgins in the afterlife.
Back in the late 2000's when I worked retail with a commission basis, I'd sell people on them by the idea of digital being all or nothing, not like analog. You didn't want to cheap out because if it went ever so slightly, it'd go completely to shit, not marginally. Fuck if I knew whether it was true back then, but its only a tricky technically true today. I've had cables work just fine for years after getting so fucked up that they're bent and the plastic casings popped right off. When it did finally give up the ghost, my screen became a seizure machine, but they just refused to fucking die.

Still, the idea of the TV going completely fucky in the middle of a big game was enough to give people flashbacks to the pre-digital times, and they'd more often than not shell out for the triple price monster cables. And for what its worth, I never saw one come back on a warrant exchange for anything short of getting half eaten by a pet.

The LLM they consulted with for video ideas.
Just as a reminder: Early last year, YouTube introduced the "Inspiration" tab in YouTube Studio. It used AI to suggest video ideas to creators based on their audience's interests. Quite predictably, the suggestions all genuinely sucked and were very AI-y.

Not one person thought it to be good... except Linus.

This is from a video by Corridor.

Some wise words from Sam Gorski:
These conversations did kind of spark a thought within me. I think what makes this whole inspiration tab feel so yucky is that it's trying to replace the most human part in any creation process, which is coming up with inspiration. I mean, after that point, I mean, how are you supposed to really care about what you're making because you didn't ever have inspiration to make it? And then why would anyone ever care about watching it if there's no passion or inspiration put into it? It feels pretty pretty gross, right?

Short's been taken down, but... was it the ECHO Flask?

$299.99 US, and has a touch screen, can charge by USB-C, and has an app. It was one of the things shown off at CES this year.

Hey now, selling 3d printed plastic crap is a viable career path for an asian child.
No an Asian child should be in the sweatshop assembling them from injection molded shit like God intended. If I cannot feel the blood dripping from my fidget spinner from all the kids that got mangled in some industrial machinery then it simply does not satisfy me.

Didn't some of the robot mowers and pool cleaners also turn out to be be scams?
I don't know about scams, but there's some... WEIRD shit that gets shown at CES. I did a thread about it in the tech subforum back in January, but there's things like robot turtles, musical lollipops, vibrating knives and any amount of dumb AI pets. My current avatar's one of them.

A lot of the smaller producers at CES are there fishing for media attention to turn into investor attention, and don't have the ability to actually market or manufacture their product at any appreciable scale or quality. That's why you'll hear a lot of "We intend to start retailing in [timeframe] so keep an eye out" - they're not at all ready and are throwing red meat at the wall hoping something bites.

For what its worth, it does work, a lot of final leg products do get bites and go to market, but its also why its a bit of a meme that what shows up at CES is rarely what hits shelves - it either dies there, or it gets 'fixed' into a viable product so hard it barely resembles what it started as. And the big players just use it as a dick measuring contest to show off their non-market R&D stuff, lots of "Look at this insane TV we made, we don't plan to sell it but we've figured out how to do it, and we'll probably make a product out of it later.

I thought LTT killed the membership shit, I checked their latest videos and was bombarded.

What a retard, people will more likely ignore all their videos now rather than not interested. Just like before. They really should only show up if you're a member although i know they want it as an ad that they have member videos.

What I've learned from youtube over the years is that clicking not interested on shit really works.... lol. Plus wouldn't clicking not interested reflect on the entire channel and not just the members videos? I doubt the algorithm will differentiate between the types, so in the next few months when the views are down they will come out crying about it.

There's two options when removing videos and channels from your feed:

- Not interested
- Do not recommend this channel

The former removes the particular video and somewhat related subject matter but you can still get recommendations from that same channel weeks or months later. The latter will make sure you never see anything from that channel in your feed again unless you manually search for it. I don't think the videos can come back even if you search for them until you undo the "don't recommend" selection. I have done it for all of LMG's channels and haven't seen their videos recommended to me in years despite watching adjacent subject matter all the time. I have gotten Zip Tie Tuning and that pedo mustache guy suggestions recently and also hit Do Not Recommend on both of them.

If only that were true. I've marked not interested and do not recommend on so many channels and a week later they are back.
Do you pay for jewtube premium?
I pay third world shithole pricing via a VPN kek.
I did "don't recommend this faggot channel" on all of linus' diarrhea spouts and NEVER see them recommended. Maybe only works consistently on premium?

Unfortunately they still shit up my search results, but there is an extension for that called BlockTube that takes care of it if on the PC

- Do not recommend this channel
The final solution to the Do Not Recommend This Channel Question is to use an extension such as BlockTube, which will actually block that channel and tell YT not to recommend it in future. I'm not sure if BlockTube sends a "do not recommend channel" to YT whenever it tries to pollute one's algorithm again or if it just blocks videos from that channel until YT gives up.

There are other YT de-enshittifcation extensions out there, not sure if any of those include channel blockers though.
