As a former resident of one of those states with some small insight into its healthcare complex... 99% of people have no idea how much fraud is perpetuated there. From the lowest level of "person scamming Medicaid by charging the gov't for 'care' of a family member that isn't really happening" (very much what we're probably gonna see come out of the Somaliland cases in Minnesota, specifically with daycares as well as autism care)

am essentially a live-in 24/7 healthcare provider for both my mother and father -- he's got Alzheimer's, she's wheelchair-bound. So I do everything physical in the house besides the cooking (mom's still best at that, c'mon now
), so like maintenance, landscaping, repairs, cleaning, groceries, errands, scheduling, phone calls, all the driving, getting them to/from medical appointments, etc. They can groom and dress themselves, but dressing wounds, handling medication, etc., all that shit's on me.
Could I be actually billing Medicare for any of this? Like, legitimately, not as a scam? Because I'm fuckin' doing the actual work. I can demonstrate it's getting done. I'm certainly not a licensed or "certified" nurse or caretaker of any kind, but it's not like any of these thieving faggots are either. I've got their power of attorney and their medical proxies FFS. Surely that counts for something? I could certainly use some financial help for this (and mom & dad can't afford it, else they'd get some asshole that's better than me
) and I'm just living off the dwindling proceeds of selling my house two years ago to come move out here to help them. Approaching "broke as fuck" territory and would like to not be.
It's not like maintaining my own career is particularly easy with this going on. Whatever I end up doing will have to be 100% remote/WFH (which I've got years of history doing, so that's not a huge problem, but it
does constrain what I can do to some degree).
Or is all the stuff you're describing literal fucking fraud, like "yeah we're totally certified medical people doing medical stuff and billing Medicare for it, except lol we're not really certified or doing any work and just counting on Medicare never checking"?
