As a media nerd I do have a fondness for those shows that were destined to die in syndication, and even weirder the shows that managed to live in as syndicated slop solely because they did well in regional affiliate markets(I’m looking at you Harry and the Henderson’s.)

Well yeah, that’s the problem with the decline in competence and decline in corporate culture these days. People don’t work to meet goals like the used to, at least way too many don’t. They work to stay employed as long as possible until they can advance or get a job somewhere else. This is not completely all the employees’ fault, and the issues with how employers treat employment and how they perceive success is a whole other diatribe, but the gist is by the time they leave the goals they were given or projects they had just offloaded to the next person who may find a whole lot of nothing hidden underneath busywork, team meetings and presentations, and other distractions with little actual progress.
